How do I work out the storage capacity in liters for my fridge Frigidaire FPC523TEW1?

Hello Howard; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. Near the top side wall inside your freezer there is a label that gives you the exact cubic feet. Your model number has a rounded off cubic of 23. So, 23 Cu.Ft. x 28.316 = 651.218 Liters.

I have an upright Frigidaire freezer and it does not get cold anymore. Do you think it could be the compressor?

Hello; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. I would be surprised if your cooling problem is the compressor. You did not provide a model number, which is on a label, on the upper side wall. So, I can only be general. 1.) Defrost Timer - If nothing is running except for the light being on then you have a bad defrost timer, which you can trip until you get a new part. You are going to have to remove the bad wall. The are about 8 screws holing it on. The rubber molding on the side just pulls out. Un-Plug the unit. a.) Frozen Coils - If the coils are all iced up, then you have a frozen condensate drain. With a hair dryer and lots of old towels defrost the coil and clear the drain. This will take hours. Do not chip away, this may damage the coils. b.) Freezer Fan - If the coils look good and the fan is humming then you need a new freezer fan motor. c.) Bi-Metl - In the upper right hand corner of the coil is you temperature sensor. It is round and about the size of a quarter. Sometimes the back will explode and pop out some. If this is the case - replace. d.) Bad Thermostat - This too can cause a lack of cooling.

My upright frost free freezer is leaking water onto the floor.

Hello; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. You did not provide a model number so I can only be general. Your model number is on a label on the upper side wall. You have one of three problems. 1.) A bad defrost timer. 2.) A bad defrost Heater. 3.) A frozen drain. 4.) A obstruction/leak - Large block of ice in the upper right hand corner of your cool coil.

When my Frigidaire upright automatic defrost freezer stopped running. I turned dial on defrost timer and it started up again cooling fine but havent noticed if compressor has shut off yet for a break

Hello friend, thank you for your post!

From what you have described you are having a problem with your Frigidaire freezer not shutting off and you feel it may be due to a defrost timer. This issue you are seeing could be a problem with your timer or thermostat. You might want to perform a reset on your freezer and you can do that by disconnecting the power cord from it for roughly ten minutes. If that does not help resolve your issue you might want to have a professional technician out to perform a diagnosis and repair. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

Ok, upright freezer, frigidaire, read -12 after power outage but working ok..when I tried to reset temp to 0, light went off, freezer went off, front display reads 56..any ideas?

Thank you for your post, Cynthia!

Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire freezer is not cooling properly and is now displaying the temperature of 56. It sounds like your freezer is not on, even though it has power the compressor is not turned on. I would suggest pressing either the down or up arrow three times within five seconds. That should power on your compressor and it should start cooling properly. I hope this is helpful and if you should need further assistance please feel free to reconnect. -Matt

I have a Frigidaire freezer that is about 5 years old. I get ice build up inside the top of the door. The door appears to be closed.

Hello; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. 1.) Due you have the freezer in your garage? Freezers and refrigerators are not designed for the drastic temperature change through the seasons. If you had a service contract, your contract would be canceled. 2.) If you can run a piece of paper between the top door gasket and the freezer body you do not have a tight seal. Repair - Recondition the gasket. Wet the door gasket with water, with a hairy dryer heat the gasket while genteelly pulling the gasket out to expand with a spatula. 3.) If the gasket is good, then you are getting moisture either thru the top front of the unit or the top of the door. a.) Inspect the liner where the ice build-up is. Are there cracks? Repair - Seal cracks with a good silicone adhesive. b.) Inspect the upper door section and the front top of the freezer for possible leaks in the joints. Here again seal with adhesive. c.) If the top of the door is expanded, then you have moisture in the door and need to replace the door. You will never get the moisture out of the insulating material.

Good Afternoon edgar corro, thanks for your post! Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire freezer is displaying an error code "E8". An "E8" error code typically stands for a shorted thermistor this could be a possible miscommunication with the wiring harness, control board, or thermistor. Since it could be anyone of these underlying issues I would suggest contacting a professional technician since they have the appropriate tools to pinpoint the parts needed for repair. Best of luck! -Matt

Deplay light and inside light off, door ajar and compressor running

I appreciate your inquiry, stephen couch!

From the information you have provided the lights on and inside of your freezer are off and your compressor is running. This sounds like a possible short within your control panel or wiring issue. I see you have performed a reset on your freezer by unplugging it and plugging it back in. Typically, to perform a factory reset we would suggest unplugging your freezer for roughly ten minutes. If that does not help I would suggest having a professional come out and perform an accurate diagnosis. This will help avoid any unnecessary part purchases. Best of luck! -Matt

Replace the 9V battery in a Frigidaire Upright Freezer Model GLFU1767FW4?

Hello Kerry; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. You do not have a 9V battery in your unit. It is usually located on the right hand side of the bottom toe plate. There is a small door. This is just a batter backup if you loose cooling or power. CE means Communication Error. It is like the check engine light on your car. It just tells you that there is something wrong. The 'd' means door seal. There are no sensors or electronics connected to your door seal. 1.) Is your freezer fan running? 2.) Is your lower back condenser fan running? If they are running the problem is with your main control board. This is located behind your freezer, on the left hand side and mounted on the side wall with several screws. This is a easy part to replace. 25352662-yiacz2mutwdlkwzereikaipx-4-0.jpg PART NUMBER: 216979700 Cost: $134.00 There are only several connectors on the back and a main cable connector. If you elect to do the work your self, make sure you ground yourself by touching bare metal. Static electricity will knock out a board. Needless to say before the start of work unplug your unit. If you were to call me when I was a service tech, I would double the part cost plus at least $140.00 labor.
