HP Pavilion Slimline S3123W Desktop PC - REFURBISHED - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Why won't cd drive play?
Could be a number of reasons. Will it play CDs? Will it play DVDs? Have you downloaded the latest drivers for your machine?

Hello:-) I'm guessing you're new to mime craft!
You should collect wooden logs first and keep 16 and turn 16 in to pplanks :-)
Place 4 logs about 4 blocks apart forming a square. Dig up the ground an replace it with wooden planks.
Place a crafting table and make a wooden door place it anywhere on the outside.
**optional** get a furnace and cook sand to get glass for a nicer look
Place wooden planks inbetween the logs and on the top, walla you have a nice cosy house! Make thorchs! And good look

Hp slimline s 3000 wont start green light for ps goes off when start button pushed
You seem to have eliminated the PSU as a cause of the problem.
It might be that there is short circuit somewhere in your case, possibly one between the m/b and the case. This could cause your PSU to shut down (if it has s/c protection). Holding the power button for more than a few seconds would cause a power down (mine is power on when the button is pressed, but pressing again/continuing to press for 5s causes power down: to power down, the power button must be pressed for the 5s - to prevent accidentally pressing the power button from switching your machine off by touching the power button).
If this is the cause, probably the only way to solve it is to remove the m/b from the case and clean out the case and the m/b, the latter with canned air perhaps. (you should inspect the surface of the m/b for objects which might be causing such a s/c, but most likely any object has become lodged behind the m/b. Some computers allow removal of both side panels) Be careful during re-assembly because some m/b-cases require (either insulating or conducting) spacers/stand-offs between the m/b and mounting points in the case.
Of course, there may be another cause...

HP Pavilion Slimline won't start up
Hi, I have seen many of these act up. Most likely the power supply is out, and needs replacing. However it is a special proprietary part, and may need to be special ordered. Also these PC's have had problems with motherboards failing. I really recommend having a local shop check it out, to make sure your not buying a power supply when you need a motherboard. Hope this helps, if it does please rate my solution.

Slimline s3123w won't boot.
If you get no video display at all, the BIOS most likely has failed. The motherboard can only be obtained from HP. The power connector is smaller than normal. I hope that you can get some video and then you could remove the battery for a minute or replace it and see if you can get to the BIOS setup.

I bought a hp slimline
I've just had a look at this web site :-
http://www.ehow.co.uk/facts_6791518_specifications-slimline-s3123w-pc-maximum.html
And it says the your PC did come with both a The HP Pavilion Slimline S3123W had a 56k data/fax modem and an integrated 10/100 Base-T networking interface.
There's more info and help, including user guide here :-
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/searchResults?tmp_product=HP+Pavilion+Slimline+s3123w+Desktop+PC&product=3442918&tmp_qt=user+guide&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk
Ask AT&T if you need an ADSL modem or an old data/fax type modem. If its an old data/fax modem, you should be able to plug your phone line, may need the proper cable, into the back of your PC.
If they provide ADSL connectivity, then you'll probably need a modem, ask them to give you one or buy one from ebay or a shop. Should be really quite cheap. You may have a friend who could give you one because these are quite old technology now. Most people are now using a wireless router.
It may be worth searching on "youtube" for videos which show you how to do much of this.

Boots up but no video
Either the built on video card is not functioning properly or not activated in the bios. If you have a card that is fitted to an AGP slot it may not be seated properly. If you have a card fitted to an AGP slot and an expansion card placed in the first PCI expansion slot the problem is a conflict between the Video card and the card in that slot. Those two slots share resources. If you are using the built on card make sure it is activated in the Bios, assuming you can get that part to give you video. If you can't there may be a jumper on the board set incorrectly. As a final option, if everything appears to be working correctly it may be the monitor that is malfunctioning or a bent pin on the video cable.

How can I connect my HP Slimline to my hdtv?
It is depending on what type of video input your hd tv is compatible with. The hp pc that u are using has only the default vga port on the motherboard. Have you tried connecting the pc with the hd tv via a vga cable?

S3842 uk FREEZES ON BOOT every time have to switch
Upgrades are usually troublesome as they leave bits of the old OS in odd places. It is best to do a clean install.
Choose your OS, either Vista or Win7. XP will not work!
Always download the latest drivers for the OS you are using from hp.com or it will keep hanging and be unreliable.
Hope this helps.

I have a HP Pavilion
It could possibly be a power supply failure. Make sure all connections are in place.
The only other solution I see to this is a bad motherboard.
Good luck and do not forget to rate me :)

Video monitor says there is no input and to check
It may mean that the video card is bad , but not always the case. Start with borrowing a known good monitor from a working pc and then test the following ... video card, memory chips ect. Does it show screen ever or only goes away in the middle of boot up? try booting in safe mode F8 key if it happenes in the middle of boot up.
