iF you cannot resume with the Operating system..try to go to Bios and set up the boot priority 1 = hard disc,
If this wont still work, your Operatiting system might be corrupted.. go to bios again and set up the boot priority 1 = cdrom.. next, try to insert the installation disc of your OS but do not install it, select option: REPAIR only.
If the cdrom would not boot, unplug the battery of the bios, then put it back again correctly. After this, boot again your cd.. Thanks..! dont forget to comment if you like my post.

Purchase either a USB stick that adds wireless capability to your laptop/desktop, or purchase a PCI wireless adapter-card for your desktop, and install it.
Then, you can move the cable-modem much closer to the cable-outlet, and then connect the cable-modem to a newly-purchased wireless-router ($20 to $70) to receive/transmit over your in-home wireless network.
Computer's heatsink on fritz - Gateway GT5654
Try cleaning the fan and the inside of the computer really well with compressed air. Dust can reak havoc inside of a computer and cause slow downs and crashes. It also causes more heat thus causing the fan to spin faster. I wouldn't worry about damaging the computer by removing the case, just remember to unplug it and touch the frame of the computer before anything else. This will discharge any static that CAN destroy the computer.
Can I upgrade to 64 bit OS, and install over 4GB
http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp
Go to that page and type in your serial number. You need to look and see if there is any drivers for a 64 bit OS. If there is then you know you can install a 64 bit system and get the drivers installed.
If you don't see a 64 bit system for drivers then that means one by one you'll need to manually search thru google for the drivers you have now and see if you can find all of them for any 64 bit system you want to install.
If you can find them then you can still install a 64 bit system.

My Gateway GT5654 desktop just quit in the middle
Based on my experience, the most probable cause of your problem is the RAM. Try Cleaning the RAM first by removing it from the slot, and rub the pins with a pencil eraser. As shown on the image below:
Then re-install it to the motherboard. If problem persist, you may need to replace your RAM.
Note: If you have two RAMs on your pc, might as well clean them both, and then test each RAM to find out if either one of them or both are busted.

vista is causing the error. its a sucky op sys. have you considered downgrading, or perhaps putting ubuntu in as a second op sys from within windows? i would say that probably vista has the wrong drivers loaded for god knows how many of your devices. could be video, or video and card reader, and cam. if it works fine in xp, than at least you know your hardware and your card and cam are ok. you could honestly spend a week or a minute trying to find a reason why vista does freaky things but the reality is that its just unstable, clunky and a poor, poor excuse for an op sys. 80 percent of people who have vista dump it within the first 90 days of owning the pc or laptop.
