Heating element stays on after washing ends

This is a serious issue that you should notify the manufacturer about and also the CPSC. With that aside, you need the repair manual and it is not free. You can order it online though. There is a high limit thermostat installed in the unit. That thermostat is supposed to stop any damage from overheating. The reason that it is overheating is due to a relay sticking shut. If you don't by the manual, you need to remove the unit from under the counter so you can trace wires. Get the color of the wires from the heating element and trace them back to the relay. It is possible the relay is mounted on a control board and those boards are not cheap and when I checked, they are not in stock either.

"Clean light" keeps blinking; dishwasher won't start new cycle

Check to see how it's loaded. If something is obstructing either of the spray arms it will not start. I had this same problem and checked to see if there was something impeding the arms - I found there was. Reloaded the unit and it's running like a champ now!

My Frigidaire dishwasher will not drain. What is

Hi Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Doesn't drain on final rinse cycal, leaves 1" of

Make sure your drain hose is attached securely to the underside of counter/sink area. If you have a air/gap, make sure it isn't clogged. Both will cause water to backfill back into the dishwasher especially if you're garbage disposal is clogged or restricted.

Kenmore Dishwasher 665 1587580 troubleshoot

Well, chances are it is the control board, but you will want to cut the power to the unit (at the breaker box if possible) and open the door panel by removing the screws on the edges. Make sure there isn't a crack that is allowing water to get on the board.

The control board can be a bit intimidating when you look at it, but replacement is quite easy. A search with the term "control board" and the model # (use the model number on the sticker inside the door of the dishwasher) as well as the brand, and you should find a number of places to get one.

Just remember to change the board with the power off, and move the plugs one at a time to the new board so that you don't get confused.

Will not turn on power is connected. will not do

If you are sure that there is power going into the unit, the next place to check is the door latch switch. To check you might want to remove the door panel by taking out the screws around the inside edge. Use an ohm meter to test the switch

If the switch is working, it should show continuity when the switch is closed (and the power has been turned off).
If you have a good switch, then you have a bad control board.

Spots on dishes

It depends on the kind of spots.
Hard water spots are just the result of minerals that were left behind when the water evaporated.
Food spots can be the result of food that was allowed to dry before putting the dishes in the dishwasher.
In general, a water softener can be quite helpful in reducing hard water spots, and can also help the dishwasher perform better.
Note too that recent changes in the formulation of dishwashing products has been a problem for people who do not have water softeners. Government mandates have recently restricted addition of phosphates in dishwashing products in many states. Phosphates were quite beneficial to the dishwashing process.
A water softener may be your best answer.
