Connect laptop cable

Hi Anna, It is impossible to connect to a projector with just a usb cable. You will need a VGA cable (for older models of projectors and laptops) or an HDMI cable which can be used with newer models. Best of luck to you.

It displays the blue screen

It is possible that the lamp filter is clogged and so is heating up to shut down. So check the filter , clean and set . If not check the life of the lamp.

Also it is possible that there can be DRY soldering joints . So the best way to check for loose connections is to tap lightly when the set is powered on , If there is change while tapping then it seems that there are DRY solder joints. Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points.

Sometimes the fault occurs when the set warms up, if so you can simulate the heat using a hair dryer on the suspected areas, try with the power supply, distribution, Processor controller, driver controllers on the A/V related sections. Also the use a FREEZE-IT spray can simulate the components to cool and show up the fault.

Based on the above method you must be able to locate the area of fault and solder the sections. Sometimes large IC's- ones with more pins- tend to have drying in some pins and so cause faults related to the IC's protocol. Have a rough idea of looking into the areas to reduce the time of probing.

Thank you for using Fixya.

The projected picture is cut off on the right side

It's hard to tell you exactly what you need to do with so little information. If you are connected to a computer, it's possible your computer resolution is too high. I recommend nothing higher than 1024x768. These projectors simply can't support very high resolutions.

Another option is to go into your menu and look for the image settings. The one you need to adjust is called horizontal position.

CP-X260 LCD Projector: when i connected to my laptop the projector does n...

By nothing do you mean it does not power on? Is your laptop on? Does it have an image on the screen?

Most of the time, this is easily fixed by holding down your function key and pressing one of the F keys. Different laptops use a different key, but you are looking for the CRT/LCD key.

So, press and hold function + CRT/LCD and you should notice a change. Be patient as it sometimes takes a moment. There are 3 settings here. One will give you a display on your laptop but not the projector. One will give you a display on the projector but not the laptop, and one will give you a display on both. So if the first time you press function + CRT/LCD you get a change but it's not what you need, try it again and cycle through until you find what you want.

Hello, My projector has approx

Does it show red hues without any devices connected to it? If the colors are fine without an input device, the problem is your cabling or a connection. To check these, do the following:
1) Disconnect all your cables and observe the ends to make sure they are undamaged. If they look good, reconnect them.
2) Flex the cabling, moving a few inches at a time, starting at one end and moving slowly to the other while watching the projected image. If you see any change, you have found a damaged cable and need to replace it. If nothing is found, then try step 3.
3) Replace your cables with any spares you might have. If this does not fix the problem then go to step 4.
4) Go into your projector menu and find your color settings. Try adjusting these to see if you get the red hues.

If none of the above provided a helpful solution, The problem is usually the internal color panel. The last time I had one of those repaired it cost about $2000. If you are not very experienced repairing electronics or electronic components, you should not attempt this.

Is sony projector lamp is repairable or not

That entirely depends on what specifically you want to repair on it and whether or not you have access to and the legal authority to handle compressed mercury gas. Sure it can be done, but I don't advise trying it. If you do it incorrectly, the result could be an electrical fire or serious electrical shock.

Just buy a new lamp. I realize they are expensive, but you signed on for that by purchasing a data projector instead of say, a large LCD television which would cost you less and last far longer.

We have a hitachi cpx260

This usually means you need to replace the lamp.

1) To do this, power off the machine and disconnect the power cable.
2) Open the lamp compartment, and remove the lamp. You'll need a screwdriver for this. I recommend having both a flat-head and phillips-head as the screw on the compartment door and the screw holding the lamp in are not always the same type.
3) Replace with new lamp and fasten with screw.
4) Reattach lamp compartment door and fasten with screw.
5) Power on your projector and go into your menu.
6) Find the lamp timer setting and reset the timer to zero.

Hi,

You may need to turn on your laptops external VGA output. The easiest way is to reboot the laptop whilst connected to the projector whioch shoud be powered up.

If that doesn't work then look for the "Fn" key, usually blue or green on the botton left of the keyboard and hold it down whilst you press the "F" key (ie on the function row) which has a monitor icon in a matching colour. It may also say LCD, or CRT. This should cycle through available monitor output options, it will take a few seconds to complete the setup after each press.
