It depends on what type of connection you are using. If you are using a VGA (analog) cable then you need to select that mode on your monitor menu. If you are using a DVI (digital) cable then you need to choose that mode on you monitor menu.

What are you trying to connect to it and what connections are you using?

are all buttons had the same problems or just the power button? tact switch tend to fail over time yours might need replacement

possible video card has failed. look up the model number and the video card should be along with the results. That is the replacement option.Try using a compressor, or electronic air spray to blow into all the vents of the monitor... may be dusty and just needs to breath a little better
