Will not turn on, last time used, I turned it off manually?

Try this:

To repair your computer using Startup Repair follow these steps:
  1. Boot into Vista installation DVD
  2. Choose your language settings and click Next
  3. Click Repair your computer
  4. Choose your operating system and click Next. This should bring up System Recovery Options.
  5. Click on Startup Repair
Startup Repair should now start diagnosing your system to identify the root cause of the failure. Once it has identified the root cause, it would automatically start repairing your computer. If you are curious to know what Startup Repair did, you can click on the details link and see which tests Startup Repair ran to diagnose the problem.
After Startup Repair has finished the repairs, click Finish to reboot your computer.
Your computer should now be able to boot normally into Vista!!
Note -- If your computer cannot boot into Vista even after repairs, then go back to System Recovery Options and run System Restore.
That's it! This is how you use Startup Repair for most unbootable situations.

HP dv6000 laptop not charging problem, adapter, battery and power jack looks like it works fine

If your battery, charger, and DC Jack are ok, then the most common problem is the surface mount transistors on your HP's main board called MOSFET's. They are small 30V N channel 8 pin components soldered to the main board. The boards also have transistor circuits which switch back and forth between a charging and discharging state. However these rarely ever fail. The MOSFETS fail because of the thermal loads which they must endure. Although some notebooks (like the Gateway I'm currently on) have a DC jack which serves dual purpose of supplying DC 19V AND connecting/disconnecting charging circuit. However your HP dv6K does not. However it's worth mentioning that these models have had all sorts of problems...most notably poor thermal design to begin with that usually creates solder connection problems with the main chipset especially on AMD models. Good luck.. :)

Try another Cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs. Has the AC jack been damaged due to pulling on the cord? Is the Transformer (brick) on the cord getting warm? Is the Battery LED on?

Need polarity of adapter plug for HP Pavilion DV6500

The cables for these are fairly specific, but if you have a cbale that has the same plugs and fits both the transformer side and the computer side, you cna use that as a replacement. The cord itself has no polarity.
Are you looking to do something else here?

I have two of them. Bought within 1 month of each ...

It's because of the poor cooling design. The Cooling Tube, and Heatsink.

Processor overheats, and turns off.

Also causes the Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS, GPU, to lift up out of it's BGA , on the motherboard.

[GPU
Graphics Processing Unit.

BGA (Ball Grid Array)

Solution?

Not recommended by me, but this is someones approach, which part of it helps the cooling system with the Processor.

My laptop was starting to run really high and hot

Try to drain the static energy of the motherboard first by follwing this steps.

Take out the battery
Unplugged the power adapter
Press and hold the power button for 30 secs
Put the battery back in
Plugged in the power adapter
Turn ON the computer

If still NO display. You need to call HP tech support department for this could be a mainbaord issue. Since you mention that system is running hot. Computer fan might stop working that damages the mainboard.

Dvd rom not working

That usually means the drive has failed and needs to be replaced. You may have noticed that it was slower and noisier shortly before it stopped. It probably stopped be able to burn dvds, then cd first, then it had problems reading dvds but would read cd's then finally nothing. Thats the typical pattern. Some just go from normal to nothing but thats not as common.

The cd/dvd drive is a simple repair and easily attempted. There is one screw that holds the drive in place on thebottom. Undo that screw and the drive slides out. Push the new drive in and put the screw in and you are done.

You can buy a replacement drive from several places including HP. You want to get it from a third party not HP. HP charges more. You should check to see if you have any warrenty either from HP or the store. they will replace this under warrenty. A replacement drive for this looks to be rather expensive at $200+ even from third party suppliers. Those can be found simply by searching for 'laptop replacement parts' using google or bing. Then looking up your specific model.
