try a new battery yet? (brand new fresh) sleep mode. so you want it to run for 7 days in sleep. ive no idea how long this laptop runs in sleep and hibernate is longer. no idea at all. you do know that the speed features are programmable right? including what chips do and do not go to sleep' like USB ports, WIFI, and all wake on , features. like Ethernet chip. and more. why not just turn it off, and let the battery last longer.. this mode sleep kills batteries faster. way faster. leave it plugged in all the time to the wall pack. so the battery never drains unless you need to use it, on battery.

load a program called coretemp (you may download this on another computer on to a USB stick, transfer the stick and then run it from the flash drive). Are the temperatures near to the Tjmax value ? if so this may be why your computer is freezing after a while. It is probably clogged with dust. Clean it out (search the internet on how to do this) Another reason may be because you are using too much memory cut down on the number od programs/internet tabs you have open. Try restoring (system restore) back to point before this started happening Try updating BIOS to latest version, and also graphics drivers if applicable Finally it may be that your system board has become defective: some say its a problem with the southbridge chipset (may be overheating: this is still my favourite hypothesis)

hold the power button on the powered down unit for 20-30 secs and try again its called a static discharge and will usually cure an issue like yours its not a sure thing but give it a try ok :)

so it logs you in and then logs you back out immediately? If that's the case try booting in safemode by hitting f8 during boot.

Have you followed the Guided Troubleshooting steps provided on the HP Support web site?These will take you through a series of checks and decisions to try to isolate the cause of the problem along the following lines:1. Are you sure you are plugged in to a good power outlet - can you plug a lamp in and does it work?2. Are you sure that you are using the right power adapter for this laptop, is it the original HP block supplied with the laptop or is it a replacement - if the latter, then does it supply the correct output voltage and watts required by the laptop.3. Are you sure the problem is not just the laptop display being dead, i.e. have you tried attaching an external display, do you get any leds light on the laptop for power, disk activity etc?4. Have you tried removing the battery from the laptop and connecting the power adapter with it removed to prove that the battery is not preventing the laptop from powering on?5. Have you disconnected all external devices from the laptop, in particular docking station, printers, USB devices etc to ensure that no external device is preventing it from powering on?6. Do you have another power adapter that you can try using - are there any lights on the power adapter to show that it is working?

Step 1: Hard Reset

This simply means that the battery is dead. Pull the battery out and try to start it again (with the power adapter plugged in obviously). If it starts up, you need a new battery, if it does not start up you may have a bad power adapter or broken power jack.

if the problem is from the power button.. check the power button. if powering its means not power button problem.. and also check the cpu fan if working or not... open you laptop if you can't bring to the shooroom or call qualified laptop technician to check you laptop..
