Dell latitude d620 will not power on

First things first, check the AC adapter is outputting the correct voltage and powering the laptop. Then check the DC port on the laptop is not damaged and doesn't feel loose. If you find the AC has no power output or the DC socket is loose/damaged that is your problem. If both are fine the next step would be to remove the battery and try to power the system on mains only. You may find the system powers up straight away. If so, you should then find when you put the battery back it will continue to operate normally. This happens from time to time on some systems due to the way charging circuit technology works. If you have a spare monitor double check the system doesn't display on an external screen, it may just be the screen has failed but the laptop is actually powering up. If you do get a display on an external screen the problem is most likely to be loose connection from the motherboard to internal screen, the cable from motherboard to screen has failed or the screen has failed. If you don't get a display on an external monitor the issue should be explored further. If this doesn't cure your problems I would then start working my way through other hardware. The first two things to trying swapping/re-seating would be the BIOS battery and the RAM. If neither of those are causing the issue I would then remove ANY extra components such as WIFI card, Modem, PCMCIA cradle, Bluetooth etc until you only have the motherboard, some RAM, and CPU plugged in and powered on. If you find it now POSTs, you know one of the removed components was causing the fault, work backwards putting them back in, testing whether the system will post each time. Once one of the components triggers a failure to post you know that's your problem. If you find you put everything back and the system continues to work fine you probably just needed to re-seat something. Should you find that the system still doesn't power even after working back to motherboard, RAM, Screen and CPU only, try re-seating the CPU and powering just the motherboard, RAM, CPU and screen. If it still appears not to power up you probably have a mainboard failure.

Labtop wont start up

Hi I am a laptop technician, and it sounds like you have a power problem.

Try removing the main battery and starting the laptop on the mains cable only. If the laptop starts fine then you probably have a problem with either the battery or the power board in the laptop.

If the laptop doesn't start when doing this, remove the mains power lead from the laptop and put the main battery back on the laptop. Try starting the laptop off the main battery only and if the laptop starts normally then you most likely have a broken/loose socket that the power lead plugs into in the back of the laptop (a very common problem) or the power board in the laptop is faulty. If the laptop doesn't start or goes off very shortly after pressing the power button it could just be that the battery is flat as a broken power socket on the laptop often stops the main battery from charging.

I hope this helps.

Wipe my hard drive

if your intention is to make the data on your drive irrecoverable you can try to boot you computer off of a usb flash drive with DBAN (Darik's boot and nuke) and follow the on screen instructions To boot from usb drive search the model of your system and see if your device can accept a boot to usb and it will require pressing a key usually F12, F10 or something to make a usb for DBAN, download DBAN from a website and use a program called pendrive linux and install pendrive linux. then run pendrive linux and select (DBAN 2.2.x) under Select linux distribution. then select the flash drive you want to use and check the format to FAT32 (WARNING: THIS WILL ERASE YOUR FLASH DRIVES FILES) Then under select iso click browse for iso and find the DBAN file you downloaded and then click create after this is donw you can then boot to the usb drive and follow the on screen instructions and under methods you can choose a long format or a quick one its up to you If you are unsure if you can do this just take it slow and understand the risks of losing your data. ,GOOD LUCK

Power/Power-on Issues

First find out if it is a laptop or a tower. If a laptop has to be sure that the power supply is the corresponding purchased, voltage, amps and Hz If not, the motherboard is out and you have to buy a new one. Also it could be that the problem was in the motherboard power connector. An important point when working with a computer or laptop is to be careful with the static and take proper precautions. Either way, and I recommend buying a new PC or laptop would be cheaper.

I have an Acer 5542 laptop. Whenever I watch live

The answer to this issue is your cpu, its a turion amd, basically it doesnt have the raw processing power required to render streams. there is no solution to this, other than replacing the laptop. AMD Turion II Ultra mobile processor M600 / 2.4 GHz just doesnt cut it, its not always about the clock speed, but how the unit processes data.

I have a acer

It's the 11 digit number (numbers only) located next to the bar codes on the bottom of your product label. If you can't read it or if it's worn out, I am sorry, but if you still able to see the serial number and wish to register your product, you can still try using the Serial Number. Here's the direct link to register your product using either the SNID number or the Serial Number [click HERE]
Hope this helps.
Good Luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.
