Boot the computer into Safe Mode and try changing the Power Options.

So what is Alt+F10 supposed to do? Why are you hitting it? Does the laptop boot and perform ok other than the Alt+F10 problem?

The main board has been compromised and there is a very good chance the motherboard has been fried, only option replace it.

The Keyboard is locked? Or do you mean maybe the mouse pointer is locked? Look on your keyboard and see if you see anything that resembles a mouse touch pad. The only thing I can suggest is buy a can of compressed air, blow through open ports and cooling fan to dislodge any dirt. If it works you will need to get the laptop professionly cleaned down the road for a proper job.

Steps for Clearing BIOS Password Check

If users set BIOS Password ( Supervisor Password and/or User Password ) for a security reason, BIOS will
ask the password during systems POST or when systems enter to BIOS Setup menu. However, once it is
necessary to bypass the password check, users need to short the HW Gap to clear the password by the
following steps:

q Power Off a system, and remove HDD, AC and Battery from the machine.

q Open the back cover of the machine, and find out the HW Gap on M/B as picture.

q Use an electric conductivity tool to short the two points of the HW Gap.

q Plug in AC, keep the short condition on the HW Gap, and press Power Button to power on the
system till BIOS POST finish. Then remove the tool from the HW Gap.

q Restart system. Press F2 key to enter BIOS Setup menu.

q If there is no Password request, BIOS Password is cleared. Otherwise, please follow the steps and
try again.

NOTE: The steps are only for clearing BIOS Password ( Supervisor Password and User Password ).

Below is the picture showing the location of the jumper next to the memory module slots. This is the jumper connections that have to be "shorted".

Go into Control Panel Mouse and make sure your Device is enabled in the Device manager menu on the hardware tab. Then check basic settings such as the pressure required to register on the touch pad. If those do not solve your problem, then I would have to say that it is faulty hardware

first right click my computer click properties then device manager then select any device then click action and click scan for hardware changes if there is no change insert the main board cd in the cd to the optical drive and install the chipset drivers by loading chip set controllers all the controllers need for the laptop will be loaded after downloading restart the laptop and install the drivers

Hello, Andrew,Do the following tasks:1) Turn on the computer2) Hold down ALT and keep tapping F10 to start the processIf this doesnt work, you will have to call Acer Tech Support to get the recovery cds if you dont have yours. If you want to optimize your Notebook then use a system utility software like RegInOut to enhance your notebook performance.

I would assume this is a built in web-cam. Normally a web-cam software comes installed on your computer and all you need to do start the software and the web-cam will start. Or you may use this link to get a free web-cam software. http://www.eyespyfx.com/my_webcam_broadcaster.htm
Note, if the web-cam is not a built in web-cam this will work a bit differently.
