How do we reformat the drive
First you need a dvd-rom Then when starting the computer press F1 or F2 or esc to get into the bios. Set the boot order to boot from the dvd-rom first then the hard-drive. Put a windows install dvd in the dvd-rom. restart the computer. Press any key once the windows install comes up choose the partition or hard drive to format. You won't be able to format from windows directly unless it is a second partition. In the old days you could format using dos. You may be able to use a utility like Hiren's Boot CD to format

That's the idea of HDD passwords. You can't access the data on it at all. Either by boot cd or physically removing the hard drive and connecting it to another pc, you still won't be able to access the drive. Two options, replace the hard drive and reload a clean o/s. Or, there is a service available that might remove the password and retain the data. There are also services that will remove the password and wipe the data, as a security measure. But at the cost of either of these services, makes better sense to replace the drive and reload the o/s. You can goole HDD Unlock and find the software easily. You would need to connect the drive to another working pc. Download and run the software on that password protected drive. It will tell you if it is unlockable. To bad it's not a Dell, I may be able to provide you with a p/w to unlock it.
Operating system not found
Which operating system? this error message usually relates to xp.
An Operating System Not Found error typically crops up in
the start-up cycle for a computer, before Windows has had a chance to load.
The computer is letting you know that there is a problem
with that normal start-up cycle, and it has come at a point where it would be
expecting Windows to take over from the BIOS--the software built in to your
computer's motherboard.
Insert the Windows install disk for your version of Windows and reboot the PC.
With the computer unable to find the operating system on the
hard drive, it may skip automatically to the next possible boot device, which
should be the CD or DVD-ROM drive.
Some systems may be configured to boot to that source first,
and others may not be configured to roll over to the next device at all.
When in doubt, there should be an option to select boot
device when the computer is first powered on (the F12 key on most Dell
computers) and you can boot straight to the optical drive from there.
Press any key when prompted to boot to the install disk,
then follow the on-screen instructions. You'll want to try to perform a repair
on the existing Windows install, which you will get to by first selecting a new
install of Windows.
Select to install a new operating system, and the install
package will look to see if Windows is already installed.
If it finds the existing install, the installer should give
you a chance to perform a repair of what's currently on the hard drive,
replacing corrupted files with clean ones from the install disk.
If the Windows installer does not detect an existing
Windows install on the hard drive, then the hard drive itself may be at fault.
Replace the hard drive and repeat the first few steps to
install Windows from scratch.
The original hard drive is likely corrupted or otherwise
broken, and may not be recoverable at all, outside of an expensive, third-party
data retrieval service.

How can turn on wireless
Hello, i also had this problem and for 2 days i tried everything. The problem is not on drivers but in BIOS setup. You must restart your laptop, press f10, go to the "system configuration", then in "built in device options" and check "embedded wi fi" and 'bluetooth combo device" and "lan/wlan switching", better check all the options in there :))
Acer 4520 not starting
hmm ..... check adapter , battery then check dc jack , power on switch , then fuses , mosfets , charging chip , ..you must hav multimeter and u knw how to use .. must hav soldering skills, some times smd.... otherwise take it to repair shop
No power
When you say no power, that's a bit vague. Try another AC outlet, Try another cord/charger/transformer with the EXACT same power specs. Has the cord been pulled, while connected to the laptop, damaging the AC jack? Have you tested the cord for correct DC voltage? You get NO LED's? Nothing? Remove Battery, reseat the Memory Mods, replace the CMOS battery.
