repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once
in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse
allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode
Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu
Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight
to your choice
select safe mode with command prompt
Click start run type cmd press Enter
black screen should open DOS mode
this will vary depending on your operating system
type in net user username
For eg. If you want to change administrator password
, type net user Administrator
It will prompt you to enter the new password.
Enter the new password and the password is changed

to a usb drive for later use if one fails to remove the password

The rom is not opening/ejecting at all
The drives are not repaired, just replaced. You can open it with a paper clip through the tiny hole in front, insert the paper clip and push in until the drive tray comes out. Use eBay as the parts source, the drives are very inexpensive. All Laptop drives are the same size so shop the best price +shipping in the drop down at the eBay site.

that means no power is getting to it or it doesnot read. try to go on start, computer, see if its appeard on the list of devices. If is there then on your mouse right click and click on Eject, and here must eject and the problem will be by the eject button but when is not on the list then your DVD Rom is bad. you might need replacement. thanx.

have you tried going through normall shut down
or
just holding dowm the power button for a few seconds
or
is the laptop not running correctly
How do i adjust the screen brightness on my acer
This can be done with some keys on keyboard. I have posted a link to a picture of a keyboard which i believe matches your keyboard.
The green circle is the key you must hold while hitting the key with a the red circles which will increase and decrease your brightness.
How i find the formatting
REALLY> consider not a format and reload, that is tons of work, tons of update downloads, tons of program install, tons of user data install.....It is much easier to uninstall what you no longer want on your system.
You could also create a new user and log in that way....but man, not used icons, just throw them away.....
formating and reloading is used much less frequently now days.
