Error 0210: Stuck Key 01

This is a system board POST/BIOS error code (nothing todo with Windows). The ERROR 210: is a standard POST (Power On Self Test) errormessage that indicates an error with the keyboard. The error condition is thata keyboard scan code was received from the keyboard when none was expected, after the keyboard was reset. If this occurs most of the time when you power on yoursystem, then it indicates that a key is sticking down or the key mechanical orelectrical parts are broken. Sometimes blowing out and cleaning out around thekeys will resolve this problem. Otherwise, you need to replace your keyboardwith a new (or at least a working) one.

When i turned on my

Welcome to Fixya

If the screen is looping back with the same mesage then there is a huge possibility that the windows boot manager is alrady corrupted. This could be caused by several issues e.g recent software installation, hardware changes, data corruption or virus issue. Try to boot the computer using safe mode and runs system restore. Restore the computer back from the date where it is working fine. Turn off the computer and turn it back on. Keep on tapping F8 the moment you press the power button. Select safe mode, if same thing will happen after selecting safe mode then it means that there is no wat for us to restore the computer other than to use the recovery disk of the computer and restore the computer to the factory state.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

When I turn the laptop on, I get a set of 4 beeps,

Hi,

Not good news i'm affraid, Four cycles of four short beeps and a blank screen = System board (Security chip) failure.

I'd call 800-IBM-SERV and see if they can advise. It might require a trip to the depot or they could give you instructions over the phone.

Regards.

The screen is black and there is no charging. No

If the screen is black, itis always recommended taht you do a Monitor self test by unplugging the PC from the Monitor and turning on the Monitor. If the If we see that "Video cable unplugged/Check Video cable", that means the Monitor self test is passing. We need to t/s on the PC...We can open the tower and take out the RAMs and the BIOS battery and do a m/b self test..If we hear a beep sound from the m/b, that means the m/b is good.We can go ahead and reseat the video card(if any) on the m/b and check again..Hope this works.

How can i slove the stuck key error

open the display, then turn the laptop upside down.
Use your knuckles like you are knocking on a door on the bottom of the laptop. Knock around where the stuck key is. It should pop up. Don't hit it reall hard ie enough to bend or break the case but start off fairly gentle.

You can also pry the key but that can damage things.

Generally if the keyboard is stuck and nothing pops it loose. The knocking trick gets most keyboards fixed. Then it may be mechanically damaged or too badley gummed up. In that case even if it pops up it will just stick again as soon as you use it. At that point the keyboard needs replacement. $80-$150 parts cost and you can do the job yourself if you want to. There are several websites that sell replacement OEM keyboards as well as getting one from Lenovo. You should be able to find instructions on line if you want to see if you can try it or expect about a half hour shop carge to do it for you. BEfore you do that don't forget to check for any chance of warrenty.

Doesnt work, start up takes a very long time...

You probably have a very active anti-virus program.
Power ON the laptop and leave the room for an hour.
Whne you come back, uninstall the AV program (Symantec/Norton??)
[Start]
[Control Panel]
[Add / Remove Programs]
Find Symantec Anti-Virus near the bottom of the list
(or whatever AV program you are using.
[REMOVE]
The password is: symantec
(in case it asks).

Let us know what happens.

SL500 does nothing when power

remove the battery large. then run on AC pack only #1 top failure of all mobile PC is that battery, so unplug it then test with AC pack only. work now.? and all vents must be clean, end to end. not just fan. there i no fuse it uses current regulator, imagine genius magic electronics fuses that never blow out, and bingo. OK big battery out, an RTC coin cell fresh. then fan blows. next is BIOS, do the BIOS screens work if not the mobo is dead. have 2 RAM stick on the 2 slots>? try one at a time run the PC with all modules removed, (options) remove hdd? remove, dvd drive. think like this. Get bios working first learn that modules can short, and when they do the power regs shut down. so we unplug all things to the mob, until only 1 ram and cpu remains. see? (this is called power overload fault isolation tactics) even the screen only can be dead, you never mention text showing you can test the mobo with external screen via that rear (?)_ VGA jack what if that worked, did you learn something here, sure. this pc has tons of modules to pull, even bluetooth. wifi, sound and more. if you look at all parts inside or sold by ebay, bingo. lots
