My friend gave me an Eee PC 4G with Windows XP home edition. But it is in Chinese. How do I change the language to English? Pls help.

If the menus are all in Chinese then you will need to install an Enlgish version of Windows XP.

My ASUS Eee PC 4G PC notebook was installed with window xp. How do I install the webcam driver?
Some times BIOS disable webcam after updating it.
To enable it do the followings:
1. Restart your Eee PC.
2. Press F2 while booting (to enter BIOS sittings)
3. Go to "advanced" tab (by pressing right arrow)
4. Select "Onboard Device Configuration" (by pressing down arrow)
5. From there you can find if "Onboard Camera" is enabled or not.
6. If not, just press enter to pick "Enabled"

CANNOT TYPE IN THE @ symbol
Your keyboard has a factory setting to US as default. You can confirm this by pressing shift and 2 and you will get the @ sign. If I am correct, then you will have to go to the control panel and change the region /language etc. US default is common as all manufacturers expect purchasers to personalise their gadgets when they get them home. I hope this solves it for you.

Go into the BIOS Setup (press F2 when the screen lites up).
Right arrow key to Advanced
Down Arrow key to Onboard Devices Configuration
Enter
Arrow key down to Onboard Camera
Enter
Arrow key to Enable
Enter key
F10
Enter
Hopefully that takes care of it. :)

Hi, I have a brand new, out of box 4G Eee pc. I have not once been able to connect to the internet. I have a wireless network with a modem and router. I have two other laptops connected and working just fine. I have the key for the network connection, and I know it is correct. I also know that my wireless connection is turned on. I have tried connecting through the Wireless connection Icon as well as the Network Connection Icon and setting up the wireless connection manually. I have no linux experience at all. Any time I try to connect it simply sits on Pending. It stays there and does nothing. Any suggestions? Or should I just call Asus?? Thanks.
You may be choosing the wrong encryption method. For instance your entering your wireless key (WEP) and you have it set on (PSA, WPA). Make sure those settings match. Also you may have an IP conflict which is resolved by setting up a static ip. If the encryption methods match and you need help with a static IP let me know

You need to go to the Asus download site, select your exact model of EeePC and then look for the ATK download.
The tray icon is part of the ACPI driver.

i install windows xp arabic v
can i change language to english with out formatting plz help me..
reinstall service pack 3 with language pack from microsoft.Make sure you back up your registry first.
For xample
If you have XP SP2 in ENG and want to have it iArabic, you will have toDownload SP3 in Arabic (http://www.Microsoft.Com/downloads/details.Aspx?FamilyId=5B33B5A8-5E76-401F-BE08-1E1555D4F3D4&displaylang=en
change language to desired one then download), change some registry
Keys (go to

Key, and then change the value date for “Default” and“InstallLanguage”
Registry value from 0001to 4001) reboot and you'll be able toInstall
SP3 in
Italian.
If noProblems occur, you will have the whole system language changed.

my dad installed a version of mandriva onto my EeePc and I've tried to use the webcam, however when I click on the directory to it from the applications tab (applications -> sound and video -> camorama webcam veiwer) it comes up with an error saying "could not connect to video device (/dev/video0) Please check connection" but Ive found no other way to get to the camera. please help
This happens with my EEE PC also .... the web cam will only work when it wants to and only sometimes does restarting work, try clicking the "start" button then "turn orr computer" them "restart" . if that doesnt work then go to start,then "set program acsses and defaults" then click "change or review programs" on the side , then click on "ASUS USB2.0 UVC VGA WebCam" to see if it is on . in not then it should have a "add" ,"install"r "turn on" button

No sound when watching Netflix streaming videos but computer sound still works. It worked fine until 2 days ago. Not sure where to go to fix this.
Update or Install Flash Player or Shock wave player and thats suppose to Start Working....
