Lost stolen
I've lost my kindle or it was stolen. Don't know which, but I don't have it any more. Is a loss covered under the insurance?

Easy.... Plug in to USB Port.
Experiment with USB Memory Stick if uncertain.

Insert disk into drive
This happens when you remove the pendrive without SAFELY REMOVE.
Try restarting your computer with the pendrive out of the USB. Change the drive letter using Disk Management.

Beeping external harddrive
It probably got damaged by the fall. One thing that might sound crazy but i've seen it work a few times, put the drive in the freezer for a few hours and plug it back in. Pull your important data off if it does come up though, because it will not last.
If it still doesnt work, its possible the controller to the drive is damaged, since its external.. the drive might be ok, but theres no way for me to tell from this end. If its the controller, the drive can be removed from the enclosure (will void your warranty) and plugged in on an different interface to remove the files.
If the drive itself is damaged, the way they recover the files is to remove the platters and install them into another drive of the same model and pull the data off. This route is extremely expensive, $1000+. If the files are not extremely important, you'd be better off sending the drive back to the manufacturer and getting it replaced under warranty if it still has one.
