What is the driver you need if you need the Graphics card driver just visit Nvidia.com /support /download driver/choose your operating system and download your driver its simple.

Is this a retail card or did it come pre-installed in your computer? This one is common I believe in HP and Sony Units, and I am not sure if the reference nvidia drivers are going to work. You can always try it, (visit nvidia.com and click on the find drivers button, then enter your product and version of windows) IF you get a warning that a supported device was not found, then visit the HP (or whatever make you have) to get drivers from them. They aren't as good as updating drivers as nvidia or ATI would be but they should still work.

There should be no reason why this card won't work with Windows 7 32bit, it could be as simple as your Graphics drivers are out of date. I recommend downloading the latest Windows 7 drivers for your card at the Nvidia website.

Just remember graphics RAM and SDRAM are two completely different things so they don't add up.
As far as I know the 8400GS is a 256MB card.

If possible try to install mother board CD drives to rectify this problem or search for motherboard related video drives from net to download and install

Yes, it sounds like either the video card is bad, or the PCI-e slot on the MB is bad. If you do indeed have a PCI-Express x16 slot on the MB, than yes a 9800 series should do fine provided your power supply is up to the requirments needed for the card.

That can not be the right driver for your video card. I suggest you roll back to its previous driver. Look for the latest version of the driver for your video card.

Right click on My Computer, choose Manage, select Device Manager, click on the + beside display adapters. Right click on the your graphics card and choose properties. Look under the Driver tab and you'll be presented with the driver information for your card.

First uninstall graphic driver from computer.
For that when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in safe mode.
Then go to device manager.
For get device manager right click on my computer iocn then click on property then hardware->device manager.
Then you can see all driver list uninstall display adapter graphic driver.
Also go to start->control panel->add remove program then select nvidia graphic driver and uninstall it.
Then restart computer.
then download exact driver for your model from below link.Then install in computer.

Well... Windows Vista can be installed on anything. I'm not familiar with your particular PC, but there are two ends to the problem. A) Plug in to PC end. Here there are the PCI-bus, and PCI-E standards. PCI-E comes in many flavors, a tiny tiny connection (1 lane), and a wide connection (>1 lanes? don't remember 8?). Open your PC box and look at the slot closest to the CPU, that is typically the graphics card expansion slot. Take a picture (if you have a camera), note if this slot is "different" from the other slots... it is likey to be. Then you can google PCI-E and PCI connectors to see if you can match them up. If you have a *NEW* pc it's likely you have a PCI-E bus. This is the *faster* solution.
2) Card to monitor. There are multiple ports on many of the new PC graphics cards... from oldest to newest VGA - This is a DB-9 type connector... looks like a oval but is longer on one side than the other. (i.e. not a rectangle). This is the oldest standard. DVI - This is an oval connection.. You can get DVI to VGA adaptors, and some video cards come with them. This will have a series of pins and a "+" cross pin connection on it. HDMI -- The coolest and typically includes sound for direct connection to HDTV. But your monitor may not have this type of port.
So if your looking for a card, look for one that is either PCI-E or PCI based on how old your PC is, and also look at what types of video output connectors it has.. VGA/DVI or HDMI. Most of the newer cards will have HDMI and DVI output with a VGA adaptor. But some don't.
Then... there is the case of a particular card having "issues" with the game you want. If you have time... pick a particular card, then google for "my favorite game" [replace the game with your game name" and the video card with the word problems... to see if anyone has had problems with that particular combo. (I never do that... :()
