when turned on set destnation then run finger along bottom of screen

If your tom tom is in a wrong language, to set it back or change it to the normal language, all you need to do is to reset it. To reset it, hold down the power on/off button for about 15 seconds, it will restart the tom tom, that way the language will be restored back to its normal language.
If you are not requesting to change the language back to its normal language, then to change the language to any other foreign language, what you have to do is to go to the gps settings, then you select from the options where you find language, then you select your choice language, that way your language will be changed.

First, try plugging it to another USB port on your PC, if the same error appears, try using a different USB cable. If no luck the try it on another PC If you can get in to the device manager and delete the usb drivers, and drivers for the hard drive, then reboot the computer and reconnect again, it should reload the drivers and that may work..

Reset button on the back..push it with a tooth pick....

Go to tomtom home page and down load tomtom home it will step you through it but when you first start go to the back up Icon on tomtom home and back it all up. very important.I did not back up and lost my map and now can't seem to get it back with out buying another map.If you have to remove anything from the device make sure you leave one map, one voice and one application. It will give you a message telling you that you are about to remove the last one so read it well and keep one of each I did not. hope this helps.

if safety lock enabled then some options are disabled.

Simply stop moving (stop driving) and all options will come back!!!

and go to Preferences and select Heart icon and select "Disable safety lock"

turn on OK but stay on the screen that says don't unplug fro0m computer and what. dos not go farther on

Check the power connector on the unit, over time the solder joints work loose and then the unit cant get power and you will just get a black screen. You may need to remove the PCB and look at the back inside bit of the USB socket. Hope this helps
