Check the sound settings in preferrences to see if you have accidently shut the sounds off.

Unless you have free updates for life or subscribed for updates, the only updates you will receive are Satellite Location

This is not a solution, it is a new problem
my tomtom was working fine until I connected it to my computer using the latest TomTom Home. It now flashes a white cross and TomTom Home says "No device connected". My TomTom is useless now and does not work anymore.

change preferences/settings switch maps select US map done

check the battery saving settings, looks like you got the screen to go into stand by after 30 seconds or so, if your not sure how to change it do a factory reset to default settings. This would delete home address and recent destinations. Update if it doesn't work
