How to recharge my tom tom online

By online, I'm assuming you mean connected to your computer (via the USB port). Just power on your GPS, then connect your GPS to your computer, using the USB port, and decline the CONNECT to Computer prompt. The GPS will then still be plugged into the USB port and the battery will be charged.

It keeps freezing and battery wont charge

Usually when the battery doesn't hold a charge anymore (even if you've plugged it in to a power source for quite a long time), the device will not longer work ... i.e. it freezes or shuts down. That's because the GPS uses power from the battery and not from the AC power source (that is plugged in and charging the device).Replacing the battery may bring it back to life ...

Hi,

I will advice you reset the unit, this might help fix the abnormality with the black screen problem. follow these procedure to reset your tom tom gps.
Make sure your battery is charged before you begin. TomTom suggested allowing your device to charge for at least 2 hours before resetting it. Remove your device's SD card from the card slot.
Find the "Reset" pinhole button on the bottom of the device.
Hold the "Reset" button down for 10 to 15 seconds or until your device resets itself. You will need a flattened paperclip or another small metal object to reach inside the pinhole.
Power the TomTom back on and insert your SD Card. You have now reset your TomTom gps, now try reinstall the update.

Hi, i have just been given a tom tom 720 which

You could try gently inserting a straightened paper clip into the small round reset hole in the base of the Go720 and pressing/holding slightly on the reset button for c.6 secs. This should reset most basic problems.

Do you have the TomTom Home software that was supplied with the TomTom machines - if you open that on your PC and then attach your TomTom via the supplied cradle or USB lead it should provide a screen asking you if you want to connect to PC. If it boots straight past this you would normally reset it, as above, then restart and accept the question. This should then check the software on the device for updates etc.

Otherwise if no screen display it could just have been dropped and damaged, might be worth opening up to check if the backlight has been broken, though I'm not sure you can get spares (certainly not from TomTom). There is a firm at www.satnavrepairservice.com who will quote you for repairs that need parts.

Hello
Tap " Change Preferences" in the Main Menu.
There are Hidden Buttons and Features.

When you first start using your TomTom GO, all the buttons are shown in the
menu.

The buttons for the more advanced features can be hidden. This is a useful
option because you are unlikely to use certain features very often.

Tap this button in the Preferences menu, to reduce the number of buttons
that are shown.
You might want to do this so that only frequently used buttons are shown.

When you need to use the buttons that are hidden, you can press Show
ALL menu options
in the Preferences menu to show all buttons.

Tap this button in the Preferences menu, to show all the buttons available
on your TomTom GO.
For more details go to Section-16 [preferences] of the user manual of your device. OK.

Tom Tom Go 720 battery replacement - how do I do

Replacing the TomTom Go 720's battery is actually not all that hard as this video demonstrates:

The company that produced the video sells a kit which includes the battery and tools necessary to do this yourself if you'd like. See: http://www.newpower99.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=TOMTOM+GO+720&Show=ExtInfo I swapped the battery of a friend's dying GPS using the aforementioned kit and all went well. His Go 720 is back up and running smoothly.
Hope this Helps, aaron
