Garmin Nuvi 350 Car GPS Receiver - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

If the Nuvi won't charge when connected to charge but charges on USB, then the charger port is faulty.

If the Nuvin does not charge at all , then the battery must be replaced.

Try holding the power button down while it is plugged into a household power USB adapter..I don't think it was properly charged??

From the Garmin troubleshooting page: " Non-Responsive Screen You cannot control the device using the touch screen. Dirty Screen It may seem mundane, but dust dirt and other particulates can greatly reduce the function of the touch screen, follow these simple steps to clean your screen: If your device has a screen protector, remove it. Spray a bit of water or formulated spray onto a microfiber cloth. Wipe thoroughly. Using a dry microfiber cloth, immediately dry the surface. Replace the screen protector with a new one if desired. Resetting the Device Without the Screen Follow the steps in the Factory reset subsection to reset your device without use of the touch screen." Or, if the screen is broken, you can order a replacement screen. There are guides online for replacing them. *In the meantime, if you have a smartphone, there are many apps that you can use as a GPS / mapping tool.

You have not only erased all of your maps but you have also erased all of the internal software that was a part of your Garmin. I do not recall seeing anything on the web site that resolves your issue. If you can get a hold of another 205 perhaps you can make an image file of its software and then transfer that over to yours.

Did you contact Garmin tech support? They are pretty good at it.

After powering up the unit and selecting address, the unit displays, "In What State is the Address? and Spell State. When I press Spell State, it has No Matches Found. When I press Back and attempt to enter the first letter of any state, the unit displays "No Matches Found".

Is battery charged? Is there a hold down function for holding power button down for a few seconds?

Did you register it? From what I've heard you need to register it to get their software for updates.

Take a look at what map is on your unit. Press the wrench/tools icon on the main menu, then the map icon, then the map info button. Most likely, you do not have all of the states in the map and probably a limited region like lower 49 states, southwest or lower 49 states, northwest, etc. You will need to download the full US map. However be aware a full map may not fit on your unit and may have to put the map on an external SD card.

If the connector in the back is loose, its not a Nuvi 350. A nuvi 350 has the connector on the side. In any event, please see this link:

If you have entered your home address all you have to do is select go home and the device will give you direction home.

have you gone to the map information screen and put a check mark in the box next to the France map? This enables the map.

You should only see the computer icon when plugging the 350 into a USB port on the PC. If you see it when plugging in a car charger/adapter, then there may be a problem with the mini-USB port on the 350 or the charger is an after-market charger that is not electrically compatible with a Garmin charger. Sorry but that is a function of the firmware and there is no setting to turn it off.

Many Garmin units have a menu item that shows a list of installed maps. The main map is usually located on the GPS's internal memory. Any additional is likely found on the SD card. When you access the menu / setup and choose maps, you will see both maps. Make sure that you uncheck the map in the main memory (USA perhaps?) and check the map that holds the area you wish to use (Europe?). When you view the maps on the GPS next time, you should see the maps for the selected area and be prompted for locations that make sense for that area. Simply reverse the steps above to get back to the main internal maps when you return.I hope this helps!
