The color stripes can usually be fixed by opening your monitor and re-seating your lcd screen. The alignment tabs often slip on these generic models, pinching off the liquid lcd before it can reach the screen. Your other problem is caused by an inferior infrared receiver led. These can be replaced with a generic infrared receiver from radio shack. There are only 2 to 4 pins that need to be de-soldered to fix this. Many ppl think that the remote has drifted off frequency and needs to be dialed back in, and this simply isn't the case. Replace that led and your remote will work perfectly again.

Try to reset to factory defaults. Looks like the V-chip is stopping you and you may have a panel problem also...

Call the repair guy. If you can't turn the unit off, there are problems that you probably can't repair yourself.

If this TV have 4 fixing holes on the back (should be 100x100mm - VESA standard 100) then it is wall mountable and the stand should release - its normal to have a clip system or bolts holding the stand into place.
