It sound like you have a bad capictor on the power supply. If you take the back off your tv, you will see little round componets. These are the capictors. The tops should be completely flat. You may need to put your finger on the top to feel if they are bubbled at all. Find the one that is bubbled and replace it.

Try either the "content / menu" button between the volume and programme buttons. Failing that, when the tv has been powered up from the wall socket wait untill you hear a small click from the t.v (usually about 5 or so seconds after it has been switched on) before switching it on from the remote control, have no idea why this works but the dtv has worked for me ever since I powered the tv up like that

check your settings within the tv. try resetting tv options to factory defaults. if this does not work then remove batteries from tv remote or any remote programmed to operate this tv to see if the remote is sending a commmand to the the tv to power on in error. Buttons on remote get stuck sometimes although you can still press on the power key.

Will not come out of energy saveing mode. Does not
Normally, when this happens, the TV goes into " Protection Mode " because of a failing circuit board. Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. The most common thing to go out on flat panel TVs is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom.
You have a few choices:
1. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
2. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you red light flashing codes, circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.
3. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.
I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.
Everything on the TV works EXCEPT live TV.
Please clarify a few things. Are you using cable TV, satellite TV or a TV antenna? If cable, are you using a set top box (and is it powered on) or does the TV convert the cable info. If satellite, is the set top box powered on? If off the air (antenna TV), can the TV receive the new digital signals and if not, do you have a digital converter box between the antenna and the TV?
How do i plug in a dvd player to this tv?
If you have the instruction manual for either or both units, it will guide you for hooking up to TV. If not, you will need at least a cord that has 1 yellow, 1 white and 1 black connector on each end. Match the colors with the same connectors on the back or side of the TV and the same on the DVD player. Note what input on the TV you used. Use the remote for the TV to select the input you used. Turn on the DVD player. It should show it connected on the TV screen.
Cant get my stand of my tv to mount it on the wall can you help?
If you turn the set over you will see a set of screws attached to the bottom of the stand (inside hollow area). There also two screws I believe on the back of the unit near the stand area that need to come out. The stand should come off now. But do you really want to mount it on the wall?
Oh well,
Hope this helps

Conecting to pc
there are 3 ways you can hook up your pc to this tv. VGA, 15 pin D-Sub PC Input and DVI convert to HDMI. when using the DVI convert to HDMI, you will also need to hook up an analog audio to get sound since DVI only put out video output.
Connection from pc
Firstly you need to know what video ouputs you have on your PC and then what inputs you have on your TV.
From the spec of your TV - you have HDMI, S-Video or VGA. If your PC has any of these outputs - you can connect them, you'll just need the corresponding cable.
Unsupported video signal
It is possible that Jewelquest changes the screen resolution to one that is not supported by the TV. I am not familiar with Jewelquest, but the typical reason for the unsupported message is a resolution outside of the supported range. The supported resolutions should be listed in the owner's manual.

Cleaner left behind a haze on the screen
You're absolutely correct with the no cleaners thing, however if you dampen a lint-free cloth with water it will help to get those fingerprints off. Wipe dry, and you should be good.
Lost manual for Toshiba 42"Regza42HL67U
I have a manual for this model WITHOUT the U. I would be willing to take it to Kinkos and have it copied and charge you only for their cost and mailing. I have no idea what it would cost, the English section is 66 pages.
