MY FRIGIDAIRE CERAMIC COOKTOP IS CRACKED, CAN I
yes u can,, most have 5yr parts warrantys though i would check your manual or get ur purchase date,, DO NOT tell them u broke it as it doesnt relate to consumer accidents.. just say u were cooking and heard it shatter if its under warranty.....most glass cooktops can vary anywhere form 200-400 dollars ive seen some geprofile cooktoops glass tops up to 900 dollars just for the glass.......... It is possible to replace most are expensive and most are backordered parts occasionally manufactures might stock the item it just relates to your particualr model number.... you can do this also but will have to transfer elements over to new glass,, u may want service one this *** all wiring and elements must be mounted exactly the same as removed .. hope this helps
Oven will not come on
There is a oven controller on those type ovens and if you cannot get your oven to heat up but the stove top still works it is because there are on different circuits and the cotroller will cost near $350 if you have a convection oven and twice that for a service person to install!!
Can one cook with iron skillet on glass top
Cast iron is NOT recommended to be used on a glass cook top due to its weight and potential for damaging the surface. Cast iron also heats rapidly and retains heat for a long time. Its great for gas stoves, but not a good idea for a glass surface.
The best cookware to use should be lighter in weight, have even heating properties with a SMOOTH flat cooking surface on the bottom for proper heat transfer. Some cookware that IS approved for use on a glass cook top is baked enamel, stainless and copper.
NOTE: Cooper and Stainless can leave marks on the cook top, but these marks do come off with most approved cook top surface cleaners.
If in doubt, always refer to your owner's manual. It explains in detail how to select the proper cookware for your range and the limitations and/or characteristics of each. If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
My husband left a pot of water on our glass top
YES!!! let it cool over night. Then put a little water at the base of the pot to allow it to soften whatever glued the two together. let that sit for a few hours and try to remove the pot. It may take longer (and more water), but it should eventually let loose. Those glass tops are very pricey, so please don't try to force it off as this may cause the top to break! Hope this helps!!
Display, oven not working
Same exact thing happened to me.. the Control Module is defective - may be a power surge problem. was quoted $300 for the part plus labor.. is there a cheap way to fix it myself I wonder?
