All my shots seem to dark no matter what settings
What Mode are you in? In many modes the +/- setting that is usually easily adjust on the camera is exposure compensation this has no effect on manual mode. If this is set to -2 many modes will take dark photos. If you shoot manual then ISO, F-Stop and Shutter speed are all you need.

Did you change the USB settings in order to get the firmware on the memory card? if so, try to set it back.
If anything went wrong with the update process, like wrong memory card, touched a button while the update was running switched off or removed a cable. and and and. The camera can become damaged, or unusable. Nikon gives the advice to go to a Nikon service centre with the camera.

MTP USB device failed to install on Windows 7
Did you instal the software that came with your camera?
You also can download the new View NX from Nikon for free. Always first install the software, before connecting any device on your computer. Special what it is a device like a camera.
The computer can interpret a camera on an USB for: Now I nave to charge the battery. Or when you start the program to transfer pictures, now I have to download pictures, or some camera's like your D200, also cam be controlled remotely over the USB, if the correct software for that is installed.
The software windows needs to install has to be on the computer first.

Did you check the exposure compensation setting? The button is on the top right of your camera and is labeled with a "+/-" symbol. Press the button and use the main command dial to zero the setting.

At first try to blow the spot away on the image chip. Don't use your mouth or air, but use the airblaster.
And there are special swap stick which can help. Go to a photodealer, they will have the swaps. If you don't trust yourself, it's on the image chip, let the shop do it.

Hi I have a Nikon d200 and with a Sigma 50mm
I'm assuming this lens worked on another Nikon camera before and that the lens mount is for Nikon cameras. Make sure the aperture ring is set to "A". Clean the contacts on the lens and camera body where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.
Transferred pix are dark and muddy

This is Defective Camera Sensor. Any mark on it would
transferred to the Picture taken by the Camera. You could try to Clean
the Sensor.If that would Fix the Problem, that's nice unless you need to
get the Sensor replaced.
