Sony Alpha DSLR-A200K Digital Camera Questions & Answers
SONY Alpha 200
It's ten years old, mate - I doubt if anywhere on the planet has spares.
I have been offered a SiGMA 400mm F/5.6 manual
Minolta had two lens mounts. One for manual focus SLR film cameras and one for Auto Focus SLR Maxxum film and digital SLR cameras. Sony uses Minolta Maxxum lens mount.
If the Sigma 400 f5.6 lens was made for Minolta X-700 series, XG, series, XD series, SRT series, then it will not fit on your camera.
Sony a200 camera won't connect to PC
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to transfer pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

Filus problem
Try putting the camera in automatic mode. Camera logo on the dial.
And stay in that mode, till you learned how to make better pictures in one of the other modes.
Mismatch between viewfinder and photograph
Is your camera an SLR, if so then your mirror might be at the wrong angle, if that is the case then you need to have a specialist tilt the mirror, if your camera is not a SLR then this is a common problem when taking pictures from a short distance away from your subject, as the view finder is above the lense so what appears centered in the view inder will be much higher up in the lense, there are two ways to fix this, one is to use the LCD, or most cameras have correction marks in the view finder, and these show where the actual edges of what the lense sees are, use the correction marks.
Can you use the twist-barrell zoom lens on a Sony
You can zoom completely independent of the focus.
Some lenses immediately override the autofocus when it senses you turning the manual focus ring. Other lenses don't, and you can damage the lens by forcing it. It depends on the lens, so you'll have to consult the documentation for the specific lens.
"camera error" when i
Hello
Unfortunately
a "camera error" message is not something that you will be able to fix. This error indicates a failure of the camera and requires the
camera to be sent in for servicing and repair.
You may find it more cost effective to purchase a new camera as opposed to the repair price on your current camera.
My Sony a200 DSLR camera
If it has a manual mode changer get it back to normal mode..if it isn't manual mode changer ..remove the battery to power it off let it without batteries for a while ..and maybe it will reset to the normal mode when you insert them back ..The fact that you can not navigate makes almost impossible to reset to the factory settings ..without getting into menu .....So try to put it in the normal mode..cause it may be in a full auto one ..to do that see that this model it has the mode changer on top ..and can be changed manually .I think ...

Camera got damp been throughly
What exactly do you mean by "damp"? When you say "thoroughly dried", do you mean you buried it in a bowl of dry rice for a week before even attempting to turn it on? If you didn't, you may have fried the circuits.
Camera rattles when it is put on/off
There are a number of things you can try:
1. Ensure batteries are fully charged
2. Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand or other dirt etc
3. Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck
4. Try removing batteries and memory card, wait 2 minutes and refit
If no luck then we have to try some things that could possibly result in damaging your camera so should only be tried if happy to take that risk...
5. Try thumping the camera into your other hand, by thumping into your hand you are trying to jar the mechanism loose, by using your hand you will hopefully not do it too hard or it will hurt. You may need to do this a dozen or so times in different places to work. I have found the flat of the camera bottom into the flat of your hand best..
6. If the lens is stuck in the out position then remove the batteries and try twisting the lens first one way then the other, do not apply excessive force when doing this or you can break gears, you are trying to reposition not force... Likewise if the lens looks like it is crooked you can try pushing it back into position. This has a higher chance of doing more harm than the thump so please be careful...
7. Dismantle the camera, not for the faint heated, you need to dismantle the lens assembly into the main body of the camera
If no luck then only other option is a serviceman I'm afraid, be sure to get a quotes as camera repairs can be uneconomical
