On my gas stove, 3 out of 4 burners light

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.

Is my frigidare fgf326ASA a self cleaning range?

I didn't read through the manual but I didn't see a lock in the parts list. Self cleaning ovens are locked during the cleaning cycle for safety. Below is a link to sears parts direct where you can download an operators manual. Manual Frigidaire Gas range FGF326ASA

Oven gas flame is very small

You may have a bad igniter. If you have a glow bar igniter you may not be drawing enough amps to fully open the gas valve.

I just got a new tank of gas, is there a pilot

If you turn the dial to lite (stove top), and you hear a clicking... it is a piezo ignition system (no pilot).

Rust in interior of gas stove top

I have the same problem. This is the second stove to do that in our apartment building. I remember calling the Gas company last time, but I can't remember what the older employee told us why it happened. The only thing I can remember is it had something to do with the gas line..

The light is very dull, not bright as it is when

Hello Mike, thank you for your question! Let's try resetting the range by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. It is important to wait approximately ten minutes and then turn the range back on. If the issue continues, then more than likely the unit could be experiencing a faulty light switch or a potential wiring failure. This is not a typical DIY job. I would recommend reaching out to an experienced appliance tech just to ensure no troubleshooting step has been missed. Parts are often costly and if the problem is precisely diagnosed, it can save you a lot of time and funds. I hope these troubleshooting tips help you in some small way.

Broiler self ignition

Hello graham_keith - Are you referring to that the igniter comes on, but the burner does not light? If that is the case, then the range possibly has a faulty igniter. Contact a professional to move forward accurately.

I have an oven Electrolux

you're not getting 240 volts down to the element, you could have a burnt wire,a bad relay in the clock assy. or a bad fuse or breaker in the house.you can pull out the stove, unplug it,remove the back panel, check for any burnt or loose wires back there, if it looks good plug it back in and where the cord connects to the stove check to see if you have 240 volts going to the machine, make sure nothing is touching anywhere before you plug it in.if you get 240 there check power at the element and see if you're getting power to the element,if not unplug it,follow the wires back and check them for breaks.have you noticed anything else going wrong or not working normally?if you have 240 going to the machine, but no power going down to the element you could have a bad clock assy.this is the part number that comes up on the sears site 318010700R and it's around 160 dollars,i'm not saying to buy this computer board and put it in,you have to do checks with your meter to make sure first that power is coming into the machine,to the computer board but not down to the element and that there are no broken or burnt wires anywhere or call in a tech if you have to,also how old is it and what shape is it in before you have to start buying expensive parts for it,also there should be a tech sheet on the stove that will tell you how to check things out on it.good luck and hope this helps and be careful doing checks with it plugged in

Ingnitor glows bright yellow or red but oven

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description,I`d suggest it is the hot surface ignitor for the bake burner that is likely the problem...even though it glows, I'll explain further below.

Here's what you can try to verify if it's indeed the ignitor...if you're mechanically inclined. It'll look like this...

macmarkus_239.jpg

** FIRST unplug the range and turn off the gas to the appliance before attempting any service...safety first**

NOTE: Some ranges have an upper broiler the same as the lower (bake) ignitor ( some do some don't ) one could swap the ignitor`s ( very carefully, they are very fragile and don`t like to be handled ) this will allow you to use the bake burner, but it will leave you without the broil function...until you can purchase another.

Here's a helpful link...
http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Hot-Surface-Glow-Bar-Igniter/316489400/1197384?modelNumber=790.71402700

This will confirm or dismiss if the ignitor is at fault...99% of the time this is the case. Many people overlook the ignitor, especially if it "glows" since that gives the untrained person the impression it works...that is not the case however. (Ignitor may glow but not have sufficient amperage to open valve, or open the valve slightly, even intermittently...but not hot enough to ignite the gas).

As far as checking them you don't actually need a clamp on (though it is the preferred method) you can also ohm it out to test it as follows...

macmarkus_238.jpg
You should be able to find one at most brick & mortar appliance parts vendors or on-line depot's such as "repairclinic.com", "searspartsdirect.com" to name a couple.

You can ask for part number based on the model number for the bake ignitor. The number I use in most applications (it's fairly universal and replaces both long and short ignitors and works in 90% of ranges out there)... is part #12400035.

I would still double check with your model number with the part`s professional`s if you're more comfortable with that.

Hope that help`s. Let me know if I can assist you further or if anything is not clear and good luck.

Thank`s for visiting "fixya" for your repair needs. Please take a moment to rate the assistance you received here and a brief testimony is also appreciated.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Frigidaire FGF326ASF Oven/Broiler stopped working.

The igniter is replaced, but still not working. That means igniter is good.-------- need to draw at least 3.2 amps or else they won't open the gas valve correctly and it will either crack the valve open, or open and shut the valve several times when it should just be holding open.

either your safety gas valve is bad, or your control board is bad and not sending down 120 volts. You really need a multimeter to determine which one is really at fault. If you check the 2 wires going to the igniter, test each wire to ground and see if you have 120 volts on one of them. If so, then you need to replace the control gas valve because the neutral line isn't making it through the gas valve to complete the circuit for the igniter. If you're not getting 120 volts, you need to replace the control board.

Those are the 3 parts that would stop the igniter from glowing .
1) the igniter itself.
2) The gas valve. 3) the control board. -------- The igniter is already replaced, so other two possibilities needs to be checked and replaced. ----------

You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Free-standing gas range: my igniter works, but

Take a real good look at your ignitor. If it is dim orange it is weak and won't open the gas safety valve. It should be very bright. It oughta not take but 1 or 2 minutes to light the stove
