Yes,most likely a bad capacitor. It is a dual capacitor that runs both the compressor and the fan.

Neither my AC or furnace will run I just replaced

Hi,Either the transformer of the control board fuse in the furnace went...usually this is because of a short on the low voltage wiring...but could be a bad component... both can be very tough to track down... low primary voltage can also burn out either one of them...heatman101

Fan barley turns but can

Sounds like fan start capacitor is defective, or fan itself. Capacitor gives fan the necessary boost to start, then it will run on regular voltage once it's up to speed. If your not experienced with electrical and especially capacitors, please get proper tech help, as capacitors can give a very high voltage shock, which could be fatal.

Fan won't run it makes a buzzing noise and

Hi miggy41587...
Look on the fan at either end and you should see a plastic cap, remove the cap and drop 2-4 drops of a good grade of machine oil to oil the bearings of the fan.
Again use your finger to get the fan going, once it is going it should run by itself after that.
Please take time to rate me

Had my camper in storage for almost ten months.

If you have 12 volts back to control box at "y" terminal when thermostat on cool calling for compressor, then relay in box not functioning properly or bad printed circuit board in control box.

I have a 85 coleman

It's a closed system, no fittings. You can have system recharged but would need to evacuate, cut lines , solder on fittings, re-charge etc and that gets pretty expensive. Usually better off to replace with new and get warranty with it. Do you hear compressor even trying to kick in? It may be something less expensive. Give me a quick rundown on when it ran good last, what appears to be happening now. Maybe I can help.

Our new colman mam

I'd remove cover on roof and observe (carefully, with breaker shut off inside) blades on condenser fan as well as blower while spinning slowly first, and look for possible bent blade on rear fan blades, or even a mudwasp nest on either. If it happened immediately after installation, perhaps the small weights on blower wheel have come off, or shifted. At worse you may have a faulty or loose mount or bad bearing in fan. If it's been running good for a while, probably a nest has been added. Careful when taking cover off, for wasps, or yellow jackets under cover. If not obvious when spinning slowly by hand, stand back and have someone turn it on to see if you can determine where trouble is when running on high.

I installed a new rooftop

If this is a 'new' unit I would contact Coleman and explain the problem you are having. I would think that they would have to honor the warranty on the unit. That is, if a AC company installed the unit. However, from your explanation of the problem it appears that you might of installed the unit yourself in which case - 'they' (Coleman) might decide to 'not' honor it. A gray area for sure. Still, I would try and see if they would help you.
In the case they won't - I would get ahold of a AC Tech and have him/her troubleshoot the unit before I started removing and adding electrical components.
From what you've said - I wouldn't think you have anything seriously wrong - you just need someone to figure out why it's not working as it should.
My best guess - is that it's a simple electrical problem that can be solved with one service call and for a minimum cost.
Worst case - might be a major component (i.e. compressor) that is bad (which is not likely) but in any event with the AC Tech's help - Coleman would probably honor the warranty on the compressor and you would only be out the labor for the AC Tech to install it. Note: some warranties will even cover the labor to put it in.
Bottom line - I would try to get Coleman to help me directly or with the help of a AC Tech, and in the event they won't - I would trust the AC tech to find the problem and repair it.

Hi,Yes, but do it carefully and keep it to a minimum...Also make sure to check the fan blade and the motor bearings to make sure that there is not another problem that is causing it to hit before making the opening larger...heatman101
