A screen that far damaged cannot be repaired at home. Inquire about the cost of repairs on Canon's website, then decide whether to do the repair or scrap it.

New cannon powershot driver for snow leopard

Do you really need a driver? The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo management program.

Lens Error - Restart Camera : Lens remains in extended position.

I had the same problem with the same camera. Ended up twisting the lens by hand back and forth while powering the camera on and off till the lens pins finally realined and let it close properly. Took alot of patience and care but has worked since. Usual cause of this problem is powering camera while the lens is blocked from extending, ie in a case, laying on its face etc.

Focus Mechanism Broken

Repairing compact digital camreas is virtually impossible. I doubt even Canon itslef would do it for less than the cost of a new camera. I might be wrong.

How hard is it to replace lens unit?

If you have the right tools and the skills it can be done. Look at ifixit dot com, because the have video tutorials of how to repair a camera (or laptop or any electronic thing) But first you have to be sure it is the lens and not just a setting or a switch, broken flat cable or corrosion. My guess is, you can buy a new camera that makes better quality pictures than your SD870, for less then a new lens unit will cost. But I can be wrong??

Picture comes out blurry

There are three main reasons for blurry pictures.Pictures may come out blurry if they're not focused properly. If some objects are sharp and others are not, this may indicate focusing on the wrong subject. This is usually not a major problem with compact point&shoot cameras since they have such a wide field of focus that almost everything will be in focus anyway.Subject motion. If moving objects blur while stationary objects remain sharp then the shutter speed is too slow to freeze the motion. Try switching to the sports mode, and/or add more light.Camera motion. This is the most common cause. Set your camera on a table or other stable surface and use the self-timer to take a picture. Take another one while holding the camera. Compare the two on your computer.

I recenlty dropped my SD 870 camera, now video

Hi crimsonbreezThanks for your question at Fixya,The fact that you have dropped the camera , has led either two of the below parts to malfunction and it's not a software fault but a hardware fault.1 - Microphone has been damaged If the microphone has got physical damage then you will have the video itself recorded in a distorted format.2 - Speaker of the camera has been damagedIn this case you will find that though the video has been recorded properly , the speaker outputs the sound as distorted, a quick check for you would be to copy the video file and then play it to verify whether you have the distortion in sound or not , if yes then the problem is with the microphone, if no then the problem is with the speaker ..:)This is the procedure by which you can know the right damaged part and then get it replaced by an authorized service center, if it's under warranty you could possibly get it for free and if not then you have pay the minimum amount of money to get either the microphone or the speaker replaced.Hope this helps ...:) In case you have any queries , feel free to contact me.
