There is an adjustment on the burner or it could be a gas pressure that is too high. What is the model number?

You claim it isn't a temperature sensor, perhaps because there is a working temperature display? I don't know because I am not familiar with your appliance. From your description I expect it is the thermostat thermocouple that is broken and the bare copper wire is actually a capillary tube. Normally a sealed assembly with the thermostat, when broken the thermostat doesn't shut down the oven.

If your microwave oven stops working then you should get a professional. It could be that the power is cut off by something like a fuse failure. This means a loose/broken wire on the oven temp sensor or the oven temp. sensor itself is bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the door appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and should be replaced. If this has an electronic panel with all the controls they can go bad much more often than the old mechanical ones, ungortunatly you have to buy the whole control panel and replace it when they go bad.
