You claim it isn't a temperature sensor, perhaps because there is a working temperature display? I don't know because I am not familiar with your appliance.

From your description I expect it is the thermostat thermocouple that is broken and the bare copper wire is actually a capillary tube. Normally a sealed assembly with the thermostat, when broken the thermostat doesn't shut down the oven.

If it is stainless steel, clean with Flitz chrome and metal cleaner and then wipe with Baby Oil or Stainless Steel cleaner.

Hello, John -

The information here may prove instructive:

You can also add the model number of your Frigidaire range by choosing "Comment" and providing the model number so that I or another Fixya.com answerer can provide you with the user manual for your model of glass top range.

Best wishes.

If your microwave oven stops working then you should get a professional. It could be that the power is cut off by something like a fuse failure. The element that you see has a filament down the middle of it and it usually is packed with a mineral that can handle the heat The filament moves when it heats and can work its way to the edge of the element wall; Replace the element

Hi

This means a loose/broken wire on the oven temp sensor or the oven temp. sensor itself is bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the door appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

If this has an electronic panel with all the controls they can go bad much more often than the old mechanical ones, ungortunatly you have to buy the whole control panel and replace it when they go bad.

hello,

that is strang, both ovens with the same problem?
of course it could be the thermostat for both ovens, but it is not likely.
The first link shows you all the parts of the lower oven.
It has 2 elements. If one has gone and that one is not replaced, then nothing will change

The upper oven also has 2 elements.
Often the base element is gone first.
When you husband did not notice that, and both the base elements are gone, then indeed nothing will change

I hope this helps and I wish you succes, Dik
