Printer wont print black ink

Hi,

Before doing this, Please make sure that the black ink is in good level then try cleaning the print head of your printer.

to do that:

From computer:

- You need to launch the HP SOLUTION CENTER from your computer,
- at the bottom part, please click on settings.
- then, select the printer toolbox and select printer services.
- now, on the list, look for clean printhead and then follow the instructions.

From Front Panel:

- Press the Setup button. - Select Tools .
- Select Clean Printhead .

- it will print a diagnostic page. If the print out is not acceptable please do the second level of cleaning and so on.
- And if you do have the acceptable diagnostic page printout, please stop the cleaning process and try to print a document from your computer.

Cheers!

I wanted to make 10

It is my pleasure to guide you.

Is it hooked up via USB or parallel?

If parallel, then the computer must be turned off to hook it up. If USB, it does not matter if the pc is running to hook up.

One thing that you can count on, it rarey hurts to shut down/unplug a printer. Sometimes that is the only way to reset the software and trouble shooting software in the printer. I use to take care of pcs/printers and sometimes did just that.

Leave the printer unplugged (if USB) and reboot the pc. Then plug it back in again, letting the OS cycle the addition of the printer.

If parallel, shut down the pc. Unplug the printer and reboot and shut down completely. Plug the printer in again and reboot.

Good luck and please post back that you are successful, giving thumbs up, or so I can be more help.

I always recommend that paper jams be removed in the direction the paper would normally travel. Forcibly removing jams generally will not damage rollers, as the hardware tend to cause paper to tear before anything breaks. Removing paper jams in the wrong direction however can break one-way "finger" paper path sensors occasionally. If you are not experiencing a jam every single print, you are probably in good shape.

As for cleaning the rollers, if you have taken the rear door off the printer you are halfway there. You should be able to turn the rollers in one direction or the other by hand. There are plenty of products out there to clean rubber rollers (I use Blow-Off Rubber rejuvenator) but rubbing alcohol on a cloth can work as well. Turn the rollers to get at the entirety of them and scrub along the length with an alcohol dampened rag.

You probably need to run the fax test to check if the fax mechanism is working fine.

Click on Setup Button ( ranch like symbol ) on the printer front panel.
Scroll down till you find Tools ( press ok )
Check for Run Fax Test ( Press OK )
It will print the test results and everything should pass.

To solve your fax issue, follow the steps below.

Look for ECM ( Error correction mode ) - Press OK
Turn the ECM OFF

Try to send fax. It Should work.

Many of the cartridges are microchipped to ensure they originals and compatible, they often put an expiry on for no apparent reason. Many models will run a firmware upgrade but you have to go look for it. You should be able to return to your supplier. But HP are often very good if you contact them.
I hope this helps in some small way.

My hp officejet pro L7580

To walk you through I'd need to know the OS you are running, but the generic answer is that you need to go into the print driver, and in the Printer Properties, under the ports tab , select the USB002 port rather than the DOT4 port and Apply the changes.
