I have just bought a new Canon Pixma MP470 after the serious adverts of it in the web. I only made 30 copies with it and paper started. Every time I give it a command to print or copy, the paper instead of going in evenly slides to one side where there is a roller and jams. The machine goes on as if printing job is on whereas it is not. I cannot do anything at the moment. I am so frustrated because I have imported this from America to Italy and now it cannot work. Any help out there? I wll be deeply grateful.

There is something jammed in there....shake it upside down first.....if nothing then revese feed a paper through it manually......take left side off hold paper in front and roll wheel on the left side so the paper feeds back into the machine,,,,,,open top to see in there and when paper feeds under white rollers make sure it dosent jam where wite rollers are about an inch from the right there is a small rectangle hole with a black plastic piece in there pry it up carfullywith a paper clip and feed paper with the wheel under it at that point the paper push out a bobby pin into my back tray,,,,, now everything works great.......keep checking i didn't believe something was there either but there was..... also if your paper first starts to feed and stops pull out the paper and check for a bend or crinp in it mine kept doing that and that is exactly where the pin finally came out.....

The printer and copier are working fine but the scanner just wont seem to work. Followed the insturctions thoroughly and no response. Should I return it or is there some way to fix the problem.
I have the printer. You need to scan through your image software on your desktop. The button on the scanner does not function.
With your image software, there should be an "Import from Camera" and "Import from Scanner." Pick the latter, and it will prompt you through the process.
Took quite awhile to figure that out.

My MP470 printer is around a year old. We replaced the ink cartridges with black 40 and colour 41 a few months ago, we used the printer a few times, then an error came up on the LCD screen
U051 Printhead is not installed. Install the printhead. It has now sat around for about 2 months. The printer is also telling us that it doesn't recognise the colour ink. The cartridge is in correctly.
Can you please tell me whether it is worth fixing, I paid $114 for it, am I better off buying a new one.
How I can fix the U051 problem with my conno : MP470 printer ? It says the print head is not installed. Install the print head. Where is the it , and how I can fix it?
please e-mail to [email protected]

I bought a ink refilling kit and refilled the both cartridges- PG40, CL41. The problem is ink level messages show "ink levels low". How do I reset the cartridges to properly display the ink levels?
EASY!!!!: push the cancel button by 6 seconds, this deactivate the ink level sensor.

u051 install the print head error reading, do I need to change the cartridges, or the print head
the printhead it is attached at each cartridge, so, there are two options: a) cartridge damageds or b) bad read cartridge contacts.
Do this, take out the cartridges, check if the contacts are clean and dry, then be sure to fix well again in the printer, if an error message appears, push the cancel button by 6 seconds, this deactivate the ink level sensor. If the error stay, 6 seconds 1 more time, if not works, I think that one or both cartridges are damaged, try with a new pair.

I have the Canon color and black ink cartridges, and had them refilled. Was working great, but all of sudden I get a message on the LCD that says print head not installed. Won't let me scan, copy, or do anything. Unplugged, removed and re-installed print heads...nothing working
Any help would be great!
Some printer brands have a cute scheme that reads a "new" cartridge as good, but the refilled one has a small fuse link that is burned out by the printer. Try factory new cartridges. Unplug the printer power for a bit to reset the printer.

how to fix paper jam on canon MP470
Hello there
This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you.
Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.
And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.
