Printhead is blocked but it's only the Black PGBK

try removing the black cartridge and with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol clean the cartridge where the ink is. Re-insert and clean the heads.

I have run out of black ink in the large

No, the larger cartridge is used for text printing only.

The smaller cartridge is used to add black to images instead of using the color ink to make a composite black.

I have the Canon MP610 printer, which I was in

The only fix for that is to replace the carriage assembly, the part is only about $30.00 but it should be a shop repair. If the gold pin is just bent, you might try and straighten it, carefully though, they break easy.

How do I put the printer into printing in black

Hi,
For taking only black & white print you can do either of the following tasks :

1 > Before taking print please goto PRINTER PROPERTIES and then go to COLOR tab and then choose GRAY SCALE. Then save these settings and you will have black & white prints then.

2 > If you finds above method difficult then just simply remove the color ink cartridge from printer and hence you will get b/w print only.

With Regards,
Ankit

Cannot scan to mp610, but can print (both using bluetooth)

Regrettably, scanning over bluetooth is not possible. Both theoretically and practically. Scanning requires huge amount of data packets to transmitted that is not possible over bluetooth.
