I have used my Canon
In exactly the same boat. Navigator software worked fine for a long time, now it can't find the scanner driver. The only change I can identify is that I attempted to use Acrobat Pro for scanning and then nothing worked. Help!

I do not have cartridges in my canon mp610 at the
Without cartridges installed on a printer, it'll never run unless you install them. You'll see the error message and you'll not be able to do anything. If you have old cartridges, you can try. While there's an error message, you can't even scan or copy or print. So the only solution is to install the cartridges and do whatever you have to do with it.
Good luck..
Thanks for using FixYa.

I have an MP610, which
First thing I would try and do is delete the printer from the printers and faxes folder. Then reinstall with the latest drivers available online. Follow the link. Click on the drivers and software link then select your operating system and download the driver. If the issue persists let me know and I will try and assist you further.
Thank you,
Lee

FAULT 6A00
Hi,
6A00 is a problem with the sheet feed unit.
The print head carriage would have been stuck and try manually
moving the carriage a few times and the problem would be resolved.
Try blowing some compressed air around hoping to clear any foriegn objects.
Notice whether some piece of torn paper lodged inside.
Hope it helps.

Canon MP610 out of black ink
Cannon Pixma MP610 - when the black ink is empty and you receive the replace ink message, then hold down the "cancel" button for 5 seconds or so and it the printer automatically bypasses the problem. It does work but Ive had mixed success in terms of the print quality when doing this.

How do i clean a purge unit on mp610 canon? where
the purge unit is located where the print head rest itself.. normally it's under the right side of the printer.
You will need to remove the cover in order to clean the purge unit, you have to be very careful as the purge unit might have small spring and if it's not fitted correctly, it will damage the purge unit.
Easiest way to clean it is switch on the printer, and open the front or top cover...let the print head move to replacement position then pull the power out and clean the purge unit. It's a messy thing as it will be fill with ink. U can clean it using tissue and moist cloth... apart from that, don't think you can clean much of it unless you are able to open the whole printer up then you will have a better view and space to clean it.

MP 610 is leaving black ink streaks the length of
That sounds like the ink is coming off the waste ink absorbers. Try blotting the excess ink off the bottom of the printer with paper towels. The ink absorbers are small pads at the bottom of the paper feed path. With work, you can pull them pads and rinse them clean and then reinstall them when dry. Unfortunately, this can take almost disassembling the printer. Simply absorbing some of the excess is a temporary step.
I hope this helps.

(there is a counter that indicates when (based on average use) the waste ink absorber is full. The printer will stop working when that number is reached. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a reset for this model that actually works.)

Had a paper jam, corrected this made sure ther
Hi there
This answers with a titch more detail.
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.
Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code.
As a Canon tech, I usually find the code, almost 90% of the time, is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move.
Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.
And yes I have found all those things in a purge unit.
The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement.
Incidentally, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model.
And it’s always a paper path error or purge unit.
The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.
That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.
So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.
Also clean the purge unit out make sure all is clean.
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.
