its time to change those cartridge

are u used the head cleaning option in maintenance. if that also done, i think it is due to dust in cartridge head. take out cartridge and clean with a soft clean cloth. u can use alcohol for cleaning.

Hello.
Remove all the cartridges, on the side of the cartridge holder there is a grey or orange lever. lift this and the head will pop out.

same problem here but i think; its a hardware problem or maybe scanner but if u face error 2:4 thats i confirm problem with connecter cable from scanner into motheboard...just check cable connecter scanner connect properly if doesnt work.......send to canon service center

This issue if often caused by the print head. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. To attempt to resolve it, do the following:

1. Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over
2. Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.
3. Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water to thoroughly clean the print head and each ink cartridge.
4. Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
5. Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges
6. Try to print something now

If that does not work then you have one of two possibilities:
1. One of the ink cartridges is defective and causing the error
2. If it's definitely not that, then the print head will need to be replaced.

I have the same model. The only thing that work was simultaneously holding down the HOME and STOP buttons for about 5 seconds. The blinking yellow light stopped and I was able to scan.

The inner cover is inside and just above where the paper comes out after you make a print or copy.  Reach in and flip the grey bar up to close.  

Press file-print (if available in the application you are using) or ctrl+P.This will bring up the Canon print dialog box. Click "Preferences" Uncheck the greyscale box. you will now print in colour. Sometimes clicking on a "print" icon by-passes the dialog box. Ctrl+P always works.

If you have the set up CD for the printer. Install the software and when prompted to connect the printer, connect and test it.
If you do not have the setup CD, please go to the following link and download the printer drivers, install them on your pc/laptop and then test the printer.

Isee that you are having issues with your Canon MP610 printer.
You mentioned that your printer is connected to an Apple Time capsule via USB and that it works fin on your Macbook and on your sons Vista Laptop but prints the colored shifted to the right on your daughter's Vista and wife's XP Laptop and this is connected via USB.
If I may ask have you tried printing wireless using your daughters Vista Laptop and you wife's XP Laptop to see if the colors are still gonna shifted to the right.
Also you mentioned the drive that the driver you are using is from bonjour but still you have the same problem.
Here is a link where you can download drivers specific for the versions of windows your daughter's Vista and your wife's XP would have, you will need to select exactly the OS operating system for the driver that you need also there is a software for each Operating system as well maybe you can download that as well for both system for you to be able to recalibrate the printer from the 2 machines.

Your print head is clogged, or you are running into trouble with the smart chip limiting the number of prints. Go into the printer properties and select the maintenance tab. Run the deep cleaning function and print the test pattern up to 3 times to get a good printout. If that doesn't work you may need to reset the print count chip. Advanced technology Original ink cartridges use their "Smart Chip" to limit the number of prints. CLICK HERE to see an example. If you are still having problems the printhead itself may need to be cleaned manually. If you get to this stage message back and I will give detailed instructions.

It says that it has a USB interface, and an optional BlueTooth interface.

If you have that optional interface, then you do have "wireless" capability, if your computer itself also has BlueTooth capability.

The following may work: remove all the ink supplies. Remove the printhead and soak it for about 5 minutes in 0.5" of very hot water. Gently blot the printhead on a soft damp paper towel to remove the excess water, then replace in the printer and then reinstall the ink supplies.

It means the cartridge mechanism is jammed. It could be caused by dried ink, dried gear fluid or a paper jam. Open up the printer and give the cartridge holder a little nudge. If you see any foreign objects eg. shreds of paper inside, remove it.

When you said you used the cleaning utility 30 times, it reminded me that cleaning can only be done a few tims before ink is depleted.

When you said that you changed the cartridge and got nothing, it reminded me that one should remove the clear tape on the cartridge before installing the new cartridge, or else no print out will be seen.

If a new cartridge is installed and it still does not print out magenta, then the printer may require service at canonusa.com:
