When turning on my Cannon mp610 I get error 6A00 -

or the purge unit needs replacement.
Incidentally, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model.

And it’s always a paper path error or purge unit.

The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.

Also clean the purge unit out make sure all is clean.

The cartridge holder won't slide along - just says

Hi there

Error A600
Your A600 is a paper path error, usually related to the purge unit. Try checking the purge unit for paper stuck in it.

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.
Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code.
Almost 90% of the time is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move.

Look for paper, paper clips, push pins, screws flower bud pods or the like.

The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement.

The purge unit is a white plastic assembly (on the right side of the printer where the print head homes) that is spring loaded on rides on a rail.
You can try moving it back and forth about 5 times or so and clean the rail with a cleanex and putting a little bit of some light oil on it and then close everything up and try it.

My printer got a paper jam now it won't take any

Hello there
You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Also clean

I turned power off printer in order to stop it

Hi there
You can try see if this may do it.

Go to Start / Run and type in "services.msc" without quotation marks, then press Enter or click OK.

In the window that opens (Services) look for "Print Spooler" on the right

Right-click "Print Spooler" and select "Properties".

Click on the "Recovery" tab and change all 3 drop-down boxes to "Restart The Service".

Make sure the 2 text boxes underneath say "1" in them.

Click Ok until you are back at the Services window, close it and you're good to go.

Go back into the properties of the "Print Spooler" tab and be sure to click Start to restart the Print Spooler service and it will restart the service immediately.

The Print spooler depends on the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service. Is this service disabled? Go to services.msc look for RPC. Check state: Automatic

Felkod 6a00

This error is a about a problem with the sheet feed unit.
Try to move manualy the ink-cartdrige from the left to right on the crriage, turn off, look for dust or pieces of jamming paper, clean the base-pad where the heads are stored, turn on.
If this is not working then you have serious problema with sheet feed unit :(

Suddenly stopped working. can't print

Hi there

This answers with a titch more detail.

As a Canon tech, I usually find the code, almost 90% of the time, is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move.
Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

And yes I have found all those things in a purge unit.
The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement.

Paper is being fed through the printer crooked.

You probably have a piece of paper stick in the pickup carraige. Get a flshlight and a tweezers and see if you can CAREFULLY pull out any pieces of paper...

Printing comes out with no

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First, try to clean the print head. To clean the print head take a hot water towel with the printer unplugged and the cartridges out, clean it till the time you see there is no ink residue on the towel. If still the issue is not resolved then I would say you require a new Print Head, the cost of new print head will be around $75, however you can buy a new printer in that cost. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

The system says error 5100,

Hi You can Try 2 things.

There is some foreign object blocking your cartridges carriage that disables it from moving. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there

Next try.

It may be a piece of paper or a scotch tape or a staple wire.
Solution 1:
Clean the timing strip.

Solution 2:
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .

Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.

I replaced the cyan ink cartridge.

It sounds like you need a new print head. You can find them online for around $75.00 each. I've had very good luck with Precision Roller. Do a google search for "canon mp610 print head".
