Why do some of my Flip Video cameras have file
They're just different types of video files. Flip was recently bought by Cisco, and they probably switched it after they got bought. Most video software will be capable of opening both.

Flip video won't charge
If you look on the bottom of the camera there is a button that slides from a locked to an unlocked position. Slide it to unlocked and then slide down the back of the camera (the side with the lens) there is a removeable rechargeable battery pack. Remove it for a moment and then put it back in. Try plugging back into the USB port. This should work.
My flip video camera froze.it wont turn on....
Have you tried resetting the camera? Hold down the power button and the red button simultaneously until the camera shuts off (takes about 10 seconds). Then, just press the power button again and the camera should turn back on. I had the same problem; when I pressed the red button to stop recording, the camera froze, and the red light remained on. I tried resetting it like this, and it seemed to work.
Flip Ultra - freezes at initial Flip screen - will not shut off
I found a fix that worked for mine.
It was doing the same thing, freezing at the "Flip" screen and would not turn off. I did the remove the batteries deal. It worked once but issue reoccured 2 months later and the battery fix didn't fix it.
What did fix it was...
With the camera off, hold down the Right Arrow button and the trash can button at the same time and turn the camera on.
A few seconds later, I was at the start recording screen!!
Good Luck!
Deleted our video on our flip via the computer before downloading
You can recover the deleted videos provided that the data are not overwritten(if you continue using the camcorder, it might).
Deleting files(like videos or photos) from camcorder is just like clearing the recycle bin or Trash on your comptuter. The data itself isn't deleted, just the area containing the deleted data is also now marked as free space so it is available for any new data to be written there instead. The REAL data is still there. As a result a simple delete won't make your videos erased permanently.
Then you need opt for a third party data recovery software.
If you are running Windows, try this software(recover photos, VIDEOS and music)
For Apple Mac OS X, try this Mac data recovery software.
Install the program on your computer (choose the right version based on the operation system you are running), then connect your camcorder (memory card or HDD) to the computer and start to recover your deleted videos. I am sure you can operate the recovery on your own. Good luck.
No power
My son dropped his flip. I popped the battery out and put it back in and the Flip immediately turned on.
I was actually looking for the reset pin hole but never found it.
Flip ultra hd not charging
I had the same problem, but it seemed to be a bit more sporadic. I'd occasionally get the "Charging Paused - Check Battery Pack" error. The battery pack itself looks a bit strange, since the white plastic covers the bottom, right side and it seems that there is no possible way for the battery to make contact with the camera. However, I saw the following suggestion on another site (which the poster claimed came from Flip technical support), and this technique worked for me:
1) remove the battery pack from the camcorder
2) connect the camcorder to a powered USB port on your computer
3) when the "Connected" indicator comes on, insert the battery pack into the camcorder
4) safe eject your camcorder from your computer
5) reconnect your camcorder to your computer
6) the battery pack should now begin to charge within the camcorder
My flip video won't turn off or record, won't be
To fix, I held the on/off button down for an extended time (around 10 secs approx) until it finally turned off. Left it alone for a few minutes and then turned back on. Worked okay. Also got a response from flipshare support who said there is a reset button inside the tripod space, use a pin to press that and then fully recharge camera via USB slot on PC.
