Jazz DV-179 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Jazzy 1113 new batteries not holding charge
On paper those batteries are both the same. There are some subtle differences. Without using an amp meter on your chair, it is not possible to say if things have changed on the chair that cause it to pull more current out of the battery. Motor wear, gear and bearing/axel lubrication can affect the amperage that the chair needs to have. This can adversely affect the battery discharge rate.
How to download pictures from camera to laptop
before you can download pictures, you should install the software that came with the camera. On the CD are not only drivers for all known operating systems, but also the software, needed for the computer ro recognise the camera and to stream the pictures to the computer.
If you don'e have a CD anymore, try the website from the firm where the camera came from. Or use software like lightroom, gimp or Flickr
WHAT TYPE OF SD CARD DO I USE
The DV179 uses SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards. You can use any brand and speed SD card, though personally I'd stick with the major brands.
Won't turn on
Your computer isn't recognizing the camera and you may need to install some software in order for it to do so.Another thing? Are you trying to charge it? In my experience, Jazz cameras will only charge with an adapter that is usually included with the camera. Hope this helps.

The IR Receiver is for an optional remote control which turns the camera on and off so you can get in the picture. Covering it with your finger has no effect on your pictures.

An inexpensive card reader (
see this link) is a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the linked article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue.
Jazz dv163 keps saying card locked..........
Take the memory card out of your camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Since this camera has only analog composite video output, you could try with a stardard video and audio cable ( one 3.5 mm plug at one end and 3 yellow, red and white colored RCA plugs at the other end). To transfer videos from your camera to PC you'll need an analog video and audio capture card, it can be internal (PCI type) or external (USB type), for an easier installation the USB type is recommended since it's not necessary to open you desktop. These cards commonly have a bonus software to let you rip the videos (convert from analog to digital format).
SD card can't be read "Card Locked" is all that
There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found
at this link.
