I just got a jazz
alright. this is a sure and definite way to fix that memory full problem. i figured it out myself because i couldnt get any help online or through customer service. what you do is plug your camera into the computer. then when its done loading go to "my computer" and look for the drive. double click that and then it will say its not formatted. you click format it and it will have all the settings already. jjust click the start button and wait for it to finish. once it is done, it will say camera formatted. next, unplug your camera and turn it on. anddd VOILA! it works
Unable to install jazz camera driver
This can prove to be a difficult situation. To my knowledge there are no other options than a cdrom to install the drivers and locating the manufacturer of this product has proved to be difficult. However, this link will provide you with a windows driver download in .rar format. I am not sure of the extraction program but its from driverguide.com and it is a reputable place to download drivers for a number of electronics. I have been using it for a about 10 years now.
http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=1406228 you will be required to register and its free. Hope this helps!
Charging on a usb
According to the manual, the HDV188 will not charge via USB, it will only charge using the supplied AC adapter.
How do you use a Jazz DV179 as a webcam?
Once your camera is hooked up to your PC select Record/Play mode on the back of your Jazz. Then pull up the program you wish to use with your web cam and follow the instuctions to set up audio/video. The information can be found on pge 10 of your Jazz user manual uder 3.4.2 PC Camera Mode.

If you look at the outside of the LCD screen it should say the model number. You can use it as a webcam via msn messenger as I have used it before. You need to read the instruction manual in order to get it to work. It was a bit confusing to configure at first but it does work. As for the avi format, it will convert to the default that is based on your computer. For example if you use windows media player which for the most part defaults to avi format then that is what you will recieve. Using the software that came with the digital recorder will provide you with the necessary means to convert your videos to the mpeg4 format. As for the mega pixals, I know that the newer models that are now available have the 11 mega pixals.
The camera can not play the MP3 musics
Are you sure the memory card was formatted prior to uploading the files?

Zoom
If it came with a manual, the answer will be in that.
Reading the literature I see there is no optical zoom so it will be digital zoom, which you don't want anyway because this will affect image quality.
While recording? Only way it seems would be by using your feet - moving closer or further away from the subject. So short answer, from what I can tell, is No.
Pictures download fine on computer, but video
Hi Gauvin,
What is the file format for the captured videos? I mean..are they .AVI or .MOV or...
Please make sure that your computer has the Codecs necessary to play that specific file format. Its not a problem with the camera. Try downloading and installing K-Lite codecs, you can get it for free on internet.
Please let me know in case you come across any issues and I would be glad to assist you ahead.

How do i upload my videos
Hello,
You might have received a USB cable along with your camera.. Connect the camera to your computer using the cable. Your computer would detect the newly attached camera and will show your camera as a new drive letter under "My Computer"
Open the camera drive by double clicking on the drive letter and then you can copy the files / images from the camera as you normally do from any other folder.
Please let me know in case I need to simplify the process any further.
Don't forget to tell me know if it worked :)
Regards,
Srinivas
