Dmr Eh57 thinks that there

Hello,

Is there really DVD disc in the player? Get a screw drive, disassemble the player and check if actually a disc is tuck inside.

Also, how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

Good luck.

Noone has second opinioned for you?Okay, here you go.If it still reads DVD's at all,the optical eye is NOT shot, you seem to know that also.Try formatting one of the discs on your PC.If it formats there, try recording on your DVD.If it doesn't record, try reformat with your DVD.If it does record, your DVD formatter may have a problem, also if it doesn't record and reformat.Still with me?The formatting and recording funtions are like a software program for a PC,only they are contained within a chip(IC=integrated circuit but trade name is just a chip). If you can format with a PC and record still, you may just want to do that until there are big problems because it would likely cost $70+ to repair, even at a conservative estimate.I will watch to see what happened tomorrow, just comment and I will get an autolink.Good luck,Greg

Hi we have 2 panasonic

Ya know i get this problem all too much at my shop, this seems to be a very common problem.
Often DVD players simply will not play certain DVD types for unfathomable reasons? The lasers are OK, the Receive Diode is OK, the electronics are OK, it simply will not play them.
There are indeed though, some valid reasons for the DVD's not being played, they are. Incorrect CODEC. and incorrect region codes.
Sometimes a Firmware upgrade is required to be able to play certain CODECs. you need to check if this is so.
Most often I think you will find, that DVD's factory Manufactured, will usually work, however home burnt ones, seem to be the ones causing so many problems. If this is the case then it is just a thing that occurs with some formats, CODECs, & region codes etc, simply are incompatible with each other. or the disk hasn't been finalised correctly.

I suppose you have tried to view the panasonic with it connected directly to the tv and you got the same result.
When you record the image is converted to avi then stored on the internal hard disk. When you play that recording the data is read from the hard disk then converted back to analog. If you have errors during playback those can appear in only 2 places: either the hard disk is dying and must be replaced or the processor responsible of the coding and decoding is malfunctioning. If you're lucky the processor might be just overheating so a simple cleaning will be enough (add a small fan to prevent this from happening again). If you're unlucky the processor has suffered a severe damage and must be replaced. Since it's glued to the mainboard it must be replaced as a whole, making this a very expensive failure. Time to save for a new one, it will be cheaper than to fix this one.

Above is your user manual and below is your service and repair manual. http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/33957/PANASONIC_DMR-EH675.html
You unit's draw should open by using either the key on the actual unit, or the remote, both should cause it to open. When these units do not open, it is only a few things it can be. A: The "Load" motor has Failed, The "Drive" to the "Load" motor has failed, or The Microprocessor, isn't functioning correctly, or a combination of any or all.
If you work through the troubleshooting in the manuals, you maybe able to effect a repair.
Now if you feel that it you do not want to do it. It is my professional advice is to get you set looked at by a Panasonic, Authorised Service Centre, and, when there, ask for free "Quote", this way, you will be able to make an informed judgment, as to repair or replace. As these days seemingly insignificant SYMPTOMS, often cost as much to repair as it may cost to buy.

Sometimes you can open the draw to get out an disc within, by using a straightened piece of paper clip, now look for a small "Hole" in the front of the tray, push the wire into this hole, and keep pushing in until you hear/feel a "Click" keep push in, gently, and the draw will.should "Pop" open.

Hi there,

Well the first thing to try is to let the system unplug for an hour (unplug of any cable) and then plug it back and retry. One is about playback restriction. It's possible to prevent playing of any DVD. I don't know if this is implemented as removing the play button only or also including opening the tray. To remove that, a password is needed (usually 0000 if never selected). Panasonic usually are serious about password and often don't offer a reset option to remove them.
Another is related to the DVD RAM format of disk. If you have that format, perhaps the protection need to be removed before being able to remove the disk. Look for the keyword "protection". Please post comments for more help or information..........

Good Luck!!

Thanks

send it or take it to your local authorised panasonic service center, they can normally do it while you wait. If it is under 12 months old then panasonic will normally pay for this, otherwise a small fee can apply, so if you are unsure on who is your local service, either give panasonic a call or check out there website.
