There are no specific settings for playback on this machine? If the lazer does not read discs and the display shows NO DISC or UNKNOWN DISC then the lazer pick-up needs replacing. I believe that the lazer pick-up for this LG recorder has been discontinued?

I would suggest firstly checking the drive belt on the mechanism. Otherwise if not follow these instructions: When you remove the DVD mechanism open the metal case top and bottom. Underneath the mechanism with the bottom cover removed you see a small PCB soldered to the loading motor pins. Remove the small PCB turn the PCB around and you will see a micro-switch on the PCB. Replacing this will solve your problem.

Did you try to contact LG support?

The problem lies in a defective electrolytic capacitor in the Power Supply Board. Its the 1000 mf 25 volt. If you look carfully you will see its bulge. just repalce it and problem solve.
