Your main pcb could still have gotten damaged due to the defective caps. The reason you still have audio through the optical is because it is a digital signal only. It is not running through the audio amplifier on the main board. I would suspect either the main pcb or the speakers them self.

It's most likely the four 10v/2200mf caps in the power supply near the primary transformer and if so they will look rather buldged on top. Better to ESR all of them for reliability. Simple fix for a shop and shouldn't cost too much...

well dont trash it.. it will cost you more to fix it than it will take to buy a new one what you can do is search for another broke one with a good LCD screen or most tv repair shops will buy it from you for parts on the last LCD tv i sold to a repair shop for a 26" thay gave me $100.00 dont know how thay are in your area but it is worth looking into.

You may have a burned image, but usually I don't see those unless it's an old model or a plasma...LCD's are less likely for burned in images. Try to unplug your TV for a little bit so it can reset and see if it's not a software error. If still there than it must be a burn in. If you left your menu on for a long time...and I mean long...then that can do it, but tv's usually have a screen saver to prevent that. If anything, let it rest and not use the TV for a while and hope patience is the cheapest repair.
