There are connectors and circuitry that control the vertical and horizontal picture image generation that need to be at the edges of the screen. The border simply covers these connectors and circuitry so the user cannot see it. Newer models of flat panel TV's solve this problem better to get more picture real-estate to the user. Did you use top quality, low ESR capacitors (such as Panasonic FR range)? Recheck the solder joints.

My tv acted the same way. Easy answer........buy a capacitor kit! it was my first try on desoldering and soldering and I have been watching the tube with no problem for months now!

If you go to settings and do an auto set up it should find them for you make sure you have a good signal first

Ask eBay sellers to send you pictures and compare those to the original component, alternatively send eBay sellers pictures of your part and see if they can confirm they have the replacement for it. you have blown an internal fuse you might be suprized to learn that ther is someone veryclose to you who might be able to fix it a lot of people who fix tv's work from home bassically you just neeed ot repalce a small circut board inside it

take tc back it should sill be under warenty if they refuse you can say t othem this is not fit for its purpose and force them to fix or replace it

Power failures can cause all types of problems, have you firstly checked the fuse in the mains plug? If that is ok then it may have blown an internal fuse in the power supply board, these are there to protect the rest of the circuit from power surges.

Either you will have a problem with the capacitors in the power supply or you have a fault with the Main Board which activates the supply to the TV to start it up.
