Type your problem for a solution...Turn it on.....screen stays blue.......none of control buttons work.....to turn it off must unplug from walll

If unplugging did not fix the issue you have a problem related to the microprocessor in the set---it may not be bad but be getting bad info from somewhere in the set.Not likely to be a do it yourself repair.

Hi it sounds like you have multiple problems with your tv. First you said that there were no digital channels. The tv has a bad signal board. The second problem is the colored line running across the screen. That could be two things either the screen itself is bad or your t-con board is bad. The t-con board would be the cheapest of the two to try. You can get parts from www.interliquidparts.com

There is a diode located on the power supply of this set that has been a common problem. The location number of the diode is d558. If it is shorted then it will need to be replaced. There could also be other possibilities but this the most common problem that I have found in my notes. If this is the problem, a repair shop may get any where from $50-$150 to fix it. If you did it yourself, the diode would only cost a couple of dollars.

Hello,Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board. The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.I hope this will help to solve the problem....

Hello,

in your warranty should be a list of certified service shops that you can go to. Usually it is at the end of it, last pages. Also, you will need your original receipt when you bought the TV. If you cannot find the service number or location, call the shop where you bought the TV and ask for it. DONT say your warranty is about to expire because they might try to trick you.

I believe that those black lines are malfunction that your warranty covers, be sure to do it tomorrow!

Hope I helped, thanks for using FixYa!

Hi,

I am sorry to hear regarding the trouble.

The totally white screen you are talking about is a good indication of LCD panel failure.
Actually the Tcon board(timing control board) on the LCD panel itself can be defective. This is a little board converting the signal from the main board into a format that can address the LCD panel.
This board is mostly sold with the LCD panel together,as an assembly, but sometimes it is available separately.
The cost of the LCD panel would be so high, that it will exceed the cost of a new unit, but if the Tcon board is available it is worth a shot to replace it (it might save your tv).
The cost of a Tcon board like that is not so high, about $100.
Add another $80-$100 labor fee and the tv is still worth repairing it.
If you need a part# for this Tcon board, please provide the unit's serial#,to identify correct the part#(for some ,there is no part# available, the Tcon is part of the LCD panel!).

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

it could be a lot of things... did you change for the same make? (it could be a known problem with this particular model) verify with the store... physically check the environment of the TV (by experience I've seen people having plants hanging over the TV and when they watered the plants water dripped on the controls) not good for electronics
conclusion is... those kind of switches are what we call buble switches or micro switches and when they go bad it's 99.9 percent because of ware, dirt, or corrosion so if it's new it's not ware, if it's in a clean environment it's not dirt, if it's in a humid free environment it's not corrosion so take your pic and investigate...

Good luck!

When I hook my ps3

Hello,

Turn the system off, then push the power button for 5-10 seconds. That resets the video to the minimum setting.

Or

*WITH NO DISC INSERTED* If there is one, eject it and turn the system off so I can show you from a system start with no disc. This IS using a HDMI cable as well

1)Power on system; do NOT push any buttons on the controller!

2) Over 4 to the left

3)9 down

4) Click 'X' once

5)Click 'X' again

6)Click 'X' again

7)Click 'X' again

That should bring you to some settings list that makes sure that the settings you clicked were what you want.

Good luck.

Sylvania LC260SS8 -No power, will not turn on

The most likely your right, the TV has a power supply related problem.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

I have an old Sylvania tv and it won't turn on

Here are some troubleshooting tips to try. However, as it is an older set, if these tips fail, the cost of a repair at a shop might exceed the value of the TV. In short, a new TV may be in the works. Cross your fingers. One of these tips may work. Let's troubleshoot the issue and try to get it working: If you are using a remote, check the batteries in it. If you are using several remotes with it, try the alternative remote. Sometimes there is a glitch affecting the remote for a Roku where it won't turn on the TV other than a powered black screen and you have to use the other remote to turn it off and back on and then the Roku screen pops up. I have not sorted out why. Check Power Cord and Connections: First, ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into both the TV and the electrical outlet. If you suspect a faulty power cord, consider trying a different one. Reset the TV: While most Sylvania TVs don't have a dedicated reset button, you can perform a manual reset: Unplug the TV's AC adapter from the electrical socket. Press and hold the Power button on the TV for 20 seconds. Plug the AC adapter back in and turn on the TV. Check Audio/Video Cables: Inspect the audio/video cables connecting your TV to the satellite or cable receiver. Ensure that the color-coded prongs match their respective connecting points. Correct any mismatches (e.g., white cable into a red port) by reorganizing the prongs. Inspect Coaxial Cable: Look for the coaxial cable on the rear side of the receiver, attached to the port labeled as ANT IN. Confirm that the connection is firm; a loose coaxial connection can cause display issues. Tighten the cable by pinching the silver band on the end and rotating it clockwise until secure. Check for Interference: If distortion continues on the TV screen, consider nearby interference. Power-hungry appliances can cause electronic interference, affecting display quality. Visit a Repair Shop: If the above steps don't resolve the issue, you may need professional help. Some technical faults, such as a blown fuse or faulty capacitor, require expertise in dismantling and soldering. If uncomfortable with such tasks, consider visiting a repair shop
