LC-52 SB55U - Power on problem
I've read online that upgrading to the latest firmware sometimes
resolves this issue. That's kind of shooting in the dark though - I
personally would not feel completely confident that a FW flash would
actually resolve the issue (as it could still be lurking beneath
somewhere, waiting to surface again). If you have no warranty, then
the FW flash is not a bad option. It's relatively easy and virtually
impossible to screw up!
If you're still under warranty, then I imagine you've figured out by
now that you'll need to contact Sharp to fix this issue. Mine was
luckily under the extended (15-month) factory warranty when this first
happened to me a few weeks ago. I was 13+ months out from date of purchase. Sharp
support confirmed today that a tech needed to come out for an all-day appointment next week
to troubleshoot the TV. Thank goodness for the extra 3 month warranty
I got when signing up for the Aquos Advantage club! Otherwise, my
$3400 investment might have cost me at least $700-$800 to fix - only a
year out from purchase!
I'll post the root cause once the Sharp tech has left my place later this coming week, so a root cause can be identified. There's no guarantee, however, that my root cause will be the same as yours - despite the fact that I am also getting three sets of clicks - there is no guarantee that we have the same issue!
Good luck!
