I need help with the instructions. But gps won't

hi flufoff, this will depend whether you bought it new or used, but after following the instructions below (how to start it) let me know and ill send you a copy of your manual or ill help you any way i can.

The following advice pertains to the following magellan gps systems.

Magellan 800, 860, 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3050, 3100, 3140, 4000, 4040, 4050, 5310 and 6000t

i fix these and many other magellan gps daily so when considering my advice , please understand i do not google my solutions.

assuming your car charger is working (the little green light is on) and your magellan still wont start up after holding the power button while its plugged in for up to ten seconds and still does not start..read below

this is actually a very common problem with these magellan power ports...they are poor quality from the factory and always and i mean always fail..the new ports that you find on ebay are 100% better then the factory port.

if your able to replace that power port yourself, you can get one HERE, if not, ask the fellow that sells them for help.

due to some dubious "experts" on fixya, im not permitted to help you directly, but please follow the link above to get further help.

let me know if you need more help or info

Mi gps ask me to inser sd card, not showing maps!!

On these units maps are definitely on the SD card. I presume you have the card? If so, then the card and map data may be corrupt. If you don't have the card, contact Magellan, and see if you talk them into a replacement for a small fee. Many Manufacturers consider SD Card replacement as a "map upgrade", and will therefore charge more. I hope you get it worked out. Thanks, Bill

Cannot go past usb is connected, or battery charged notice ?

disconnect it from power, then turn it on and after its done booting, use a paper clip and insert it in the tiny hole on the left side (thats the rest) and depress the switch gently...it should now start to reboot, after its done, plug in the charger again....if you still have a problem, let me know by replying to this post.

if the light is not on, on the charger, check the fuse in the end of the car charger...the tip unscrews and there is a tiny fuse just under the tip.

if thats ok, check the fuse to the outlet you are using in your car.

if the light comes on the charger and it still wont charge, let me know and i can help you fix it.

the 3140 are known for there bad power ports.

My gps is showing the wrong current location. how

it hasnt linked to the satellites yet...make sure its fully charged, then slide the switch to the off position for 15 seconds, then power it back on and take the unit outside in clear view of the open sky and wait until the satellites lock on.

you can tell when the satellites are linked by the bar at the top in the main menu area..

I am not getting any sound on my Magellan maestro

The speaker is defective. While this link is geared to Garmin units, many of the tips hold true for other brands.

Magellan maestro 3140 wont power up/start

hi ohh_bambino plug it in and let it charge for awhile using a know good charger, like the car charger. it has a indicator light to let you know its charging.

now press and hold the power button for up to ten seconds until it starts. if that fails

this is a very common problem for the models listed below.

the following magellan 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3100, 3140, 4000, 4040, 4050 and the 6000 are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port...

you can get help to repaired it, here
or buy the port here

if you need further help, just let me know.

Battery does not keep a charge. Can the battery

yes, the batter can be re placed, but i would verify its charging before buying a battery.

make sure green light is on the car charger (or a known good charger0 and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (up to ten seconds) until it starts..

after its started, go to the system setting. the battery meter should be moving left to right. if its all green and turns off when unplugged, the battery needs replaced.

your part # for your battery should be 37-00030-001you can get a battery HERE but verify your unit with the seller.

if it only has a few bars and is not moving while plugged it, it is not charging.

this is a very common problem for the models listed below.

the following magellan 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3100, 3140, 4000, 4040, 4050 and the 6000 are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port...

Magellan 3140 will not reconize zip code for New Port Richey FL

check the region you are in, it is probably not in the right one or stuck in the last region that was selected..im not sure where this city is, but if for example it is in the usa then make sure the region is selected for the usa. if that does not work or if it is in the right region, let me know and we can try something else.

My Maestro 3225 is stuck on the system settings

if your lucky, all it will need is a reset. start the unit and using a paper clip, insert it in the small hole on the side. if that fails, try the update using the Magellan link below...follow the update directions carefully. you must register your unit on the magellan site to download the update.

if neither solution works, id say the digitizer is bad (the touch screen) but the update normally cures this problem!

let me know if you need further help!
