Hi I have managed to find a manual for your Onkyo machine. It is in pdf format so can be saved to your computer for future reference. It can be obtained here: http://www.uk.onkyo.com/downloads/1/1/7/3/6/21507518_65197b9e73.pdf and by using the Adobe Acrobat Reader search function with "turntable" as the search term, I found diagrams on page 36 which clearly showed how to connect various types of turntable. Try ebay use "audio amplifier board" as the search term. Most of what you find will be 25V or less.

Player can be made to work without remote. But it is a pain.
You need to press pause then play in the right combination.and you can get both DVDs and Blu Ray disks to work. I bought a store floor model that did not have a remote. There are no other fuses in this receiver. Any other diagnosis would require electronics repair knowledge as this unit is microprocessor controlled.

In most cases this is an issue with something getting too hot.

do you have a center channel speaker hooked up? Most dialogue in movies should come from the center channel.

Check on the back panel for a fuse. Usually a black knob with a curved arrow going 1/2 circle. push in and turn counter-clock wise or unscrew to release the fuse. Hopefully it has one like that. Easy to get to. Hope it has that, if not...idk. Oh yea, don't go by eye determining if its good or not, use a multi-tester to know for sure.

I'll second what dennisae said. I've got a TX-NR708 that had all sorts of video issues after about 6 months of use until I got the HDMI board replaced. This seems to be an issue with this brand over a wide number of models.

I would try a new HDMI cable that has the gold plated ends for higher resolutions. Some of the older non-plated HDMI cables seem to have difficulty with higher res DVD's. This is applicable especially to Blu-rays vs plain DVD's.

I have the same problem and it is not speaker wires, cables, or dumb remote codes (really, remote codes.) I'm taking mine in for repair, and not reliying on straw grasping, speculative solutions.

If you have the remote for it there is no on code for it,

before u start with surround sound speakers make sure that u run everthing threw aux what ever you have your speakers connected to u have to look in the back of the of the conection and connect your rca jacks to the aux input then you sould hear sound if not check your amp to see if it works

The subwoofer has its own RCA output on the back of the receiver and needs to be plugged by RCA cable from the receiver to the sub. This would be for an "active subwoofer" with its own amplifier and crossover that needs to be plugged into the wall.

It likely needs to be opened and looked at---a fuse is possible or may be a good idea to take it to a shop for an estimate.

The audio output stage has load issue, check speaker wires for shorts, if okay! the problem is in the semiconductors and this is where a professional is needed.
