Audio on some TV channels/shows goes off.

Not sure what this means: "The audio comes to the Cable box through coax cable." From where does audio come TO the cable box? The cable box is a source of both audio and video. Perhaps you mean the TV broadcast "containing the audio and video" comes in on coax.

Has this ever worked correctly? <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Try this: disconnect the HDMI that goes from the cable box to the Video 2 on the receiver. Leave the optical audio cable in. How's the audio now?

Then try the reverse: reconnect the HDMI and disconnect the optical audio. You shouldn't need BOTH for audio into the receiver.

Now what happens?

Not sure if you guys

Hi,

Looks like this may be an older model. Nothing much on the web, even at Teac. The best I could do is give you a link to download a manual which no doubt has the specs in it. It is available at:

http://www.teac.owner-manuals.com/AGV1200-owners-manual-TEAC.html

Also available at:

http://www.manuals-in-pdf.com/590-p-11541.html

Unfortunately both companies charge $9.99 for it. If you get the receiver you may want the manual anyway.

Only other alternative would be to contact Teac at one of the Consumer Electronics contact numbers/emails here:

http://www.teac.com/support/contact/

Thanks for using Fixya. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Replacing AV Receiver what to buy

Looking to buy new receiver so far only have two that appear to be good value for money and within my budget. They are Marantz NR1501 and Denon 1909. also looking at the Quintet 5-channel Klipsch speakers. This is about as far as I have got but will continue to check out the reviews a little longer before making my final decision.

The subwoofer is connected, but no sound

Check that the subwoofer is set to on and that the front and center speakers are set to small not large. It will be shown how to do this in the owners manual, if you don't have one it's available online. Search :sony service.

Do the HDMI ports support audio or do I need to go

The STR-DG510 carries video only over the HDMI port. Technically, this is a "pass-thru" port. Most older receivers are engineered to operate this way. Why? I don't know. You MUST provide the audio connection using a separate TOSLINK or RCA cable from the program source to the receiver while your video is connected via the HDMI port.

The receiver has a message

The unit is letting you know that the fan is dead or clogged. If you are out of warranty you can remove the cover and check to see if you need to clean or replace the fan. If you are still in warranty you should have your local Sony shop take care of it for you.

No sound coming from Sony Receiver STR-DG510?

Sounds like you are pretty close with this one. If you select fm tuner do you get audio. If not you may have the speakers on the wrong a-b setting. Make sure the audio from your cable box is not muted or turned down.

BD/DVD NO SOUND SCREEN SAYS UNBLOCK

I solved the problem myself. I obviously didn't read the manual properly. All I had to do was change the audio settings on the Play Station.

I AM LOOKING TO FIND A MANUAL FOR MY SONY

The manual can be downloaded here:
http://www.docs.sony.com/release/STRDG510.pdf

(Your post said "sta-dg510" however, I'm guessing that's a typo, as Sony does not have a receiver by that model number)

Please rate this as solved. Thanks!

Panasonic DMR-HS2 RF out is not outputting signal CH3 CH4 off

The most likely cause of this is the unit being in progressive scan mode. In progressive mode, the composite output is disabled. If you can, connect the DVD using the component output connections. If your TV does not have component input, connect the green connector to the yellow on the TV. If the unit is in porgressive scan, you will see a garbled picture on the screen. The only way to fix this is to turn off progressive scan. The manual will tell you how to do this.

STG DR510 no sound on left front channel

Can I assume the calibration procedure also didn't work for the Front left channel? (It's not a "surround" if it's in the front). Switch the receiver to Stereo mode to eliminate any DSP actions. Tune an FM station to eliminate any external device or cable issues. What do you hear from the two Front speakers?

OK? Select a DSP surround mode. Check all modes. What happens?

If the channel goes dead using some or all DSP modes there's probably something wrong with the processor. If they all work...

Isolate the source that exhibits the problem.

It was a bad left channel cable somewhere, wasn't it?

Sony DG510 - Not Getting surround sound out of Cable

Did you try it on BOTH the SAT and Video 2 optical ports? Still not working? Could be the Optical cable is bad.

Does your Cable Box also have a coaxial digital ouput? It looks just like a standard RCA connector but says Digital somewhere near it. Try one conductor of a standard audio cable from it to the "DVD" coax connector. Select DVD to hear it.

If it still doesn't work jump into the Cable Box setup to make sure it's output is set up properly.

I would recommend using the coaxial digital option if you have it.
1) The cable isn't special or expensive like the optical cable is; a garden-variety RCA cable works just fine.
2) You have virtually unlimited distance to work with in the house.
3) You don't have to be so darned careful with it as with optical.

I'm trying to connect my Sony STD-DG510 Receiver

You don't say what input on the Sony is connected to which output on the Karaoke machine (what model?).

Assuming you want the Sony to do the playback from your karaoke machine...

Take the K's audio output on an RCA cable pair to any of the Sony's available analog inputs, for example one of the connectors labeled: CD, TV or SAT. My guess is SAT is unused in 90% of homes.

Select the appropriate source on the Receiver and rock on. You could even play with some of the DSP surround simulation modes to hear the K through all of your speakers.

My receiver is protected

Usually its a fuse, or a diode on the board, specifically designed to blow to save the components.

Try taking the cover off, and inspecting the circuitry for broken diodes and resistors. also note if the fuse is popped or not.

Hope this helps! pls rate well!

Xbox connectivity problem

As dumb as this sounds here is the mistake Sony made. The receiver does not process sound from the HDMI, it will only pass through that data to you TV. So you will not be able to get sound from your 5.1 speaker setup if you only connect the HDMI, you have to use the matching audio input for that respective HDMI input. Make sense? So the HDMI DVD Input must have digital coax for sound, HDMI Video2 must have fiber optic for sound, and there is another fiber optic port for the Sat input. Yes thats right, if you have 2 HDMI HD components and each only has fiber optic(neither one has digital coax) you cant hook both up properly the way you would think. Sony made this receiver poorly, turning High Definition Multimedia Interface into High Definition Multimedia Except For Audio Interface.
