Hello
There are two main possibilities for this fault. The first is with itspower supply itsef. The second one is with ballast board. Check if there are any bulged capacitors in the power supply board. If found replace them. If all the components in the power supply board are found OK, then replace the ballast board. Replacing this board is actually a skilled work. You must have experience in disassembleing and reassembling its ballast board assembley. If you have enough knoledge in elecronics and have confidence inform me, and send me your email address by Fixya. I'll send you a copy of the service manual for your set, which describes all the repair proceedings, with illustrated diagrams. I hereby includes a picture of an other set's power supply board; just for your information about what a bulged capacitor will look like.

gopakumarg43_31.jpgLook at the red arrow marked capacitors. you can see a good one on the top right. OK.

It does sound like it could have been the ballast the first time when you took it into the shop and they replaced the bulb.

By changing the bulb they may have sparked the ballast back to life for a couple more starts as they can be very hit & miss once they start to fail. If you tried maybe 10 times to switch it on you may still get it to fire one time.

Are their any flashing LEDs on the front of the TV?

BULB IS BLOWN ON THE MITSUBISHI WD65733

your model uses the Mitsubishi 915061010 Lamp assembly with housing which is available from www.tvrepairworld.com under the Mitsubishi DLP Lamp category. The lamp comes with installation instructions and is a simple plug in , It includes the housing so you dont need to remove the old bulb from your housing to reuse since the new lamp already has the housing with it.

Wd65733 green blinking timer light

Hello,

The TV must be in "Shut Down" and not manually switched Off, to perform the Error Code Operational Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to "12" No Error. Press the front panel "DEVICE/input " and "MENU" buttons at the same time, and hold for 5 seconds to activate the Error Code Operational Check. The LED will then flash denoting a two digit Code.

Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control. The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code. The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second. The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code. Example: If the Error Code is "32", the LED will flash three times, pause, and then flash two times. The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times. 4. Error Codes The Error Code designations are listed below: Error Code Probable Cause 12 No error detected 22 Recovery from momentary Reset 32 Lamp Cover open 33 Air Filter Cover open 34 Lamp abnormality 35 Chassis Fan failure 36 Exhaust (Back Cover) or Lamp Ballast Fan failure 37 Engine (DMD or Lamp) Fan failure 38 Excess Lamp Temperature 39 Excess DMD Temperature 41 Short Detected 44 DVI Cable (between Chassis and Engine) disconnected.

If the above doesn't seem to detect the fault, remove the TV wire from the wall plug, wait for about 30mins for TV to settle, plug it back into the wall and power on the TV and see if problem will persist.

If problem persist then problem is either from a dying lamp or a power problem. If the blinking light is green, then it means you need to replace the lamp. How long have you been using this TV and have you ever changed the lamp. Changing the lamp should do the fix. But is problem persist after changing lamp, then it might be a power problem.

Problems like this is also consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.

All these can be checked on the power supply board.

But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

Regards.

Specks on screen....when turned on you see specks

Those are referred to as hot pixels. You cannot fix them, the only cure is to replace the DLP module inside the tv, and that's one of the most expensive single parts in your tv.

Hot pixels and totally dead pixels are a common occurrence and to some extent are considered normal, but each manufacturer specifies it's own limits regarding what is acceptable in each area of the screen.

Contact Mitsubishi's service department in your country to find out what those limits are. If your tv has exceeded them then you may be offered a free repair.

Getting white spots on my

Hi,all HDTV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board and also white spots.

A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times resetting the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens.

The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them.

Good luck.

When i turn on my 64inch mitsubishi wd 65733 tv it

My concern is that the new lamp may be having an issue and not able to hold the high voltage.
If the old lamp was working, I would try this old lamp again.
If this issue was with the old lamp also. Then there is something else wrong either in the power supply or the lamp ballast where it isn't able to continue to put out the high voltage.

More than likely a lamp issue!

I have white and black

Hi, I have a mitsubishi 65" DLP model # 65733 that I bought in December 2007 brand new, about six months ago I started spoting white dots on my screen that started blinking and then became permanent, thinking is was dust I cleaned everything inside with compressed air without success.
The stars multiply daily to a point that it was intolerable to watch anything with all the white stars and a few black ones that showed up.
We called mitsubishi but got no where, I was out of warranty. (they still deny having a problem with their DLP's)

I had a service tech inspect the tv and was told it could run about $800 to $1000 to replace the light engine with refurbished parts with 90 day warranties.

Researching on line I came across a DLP chip that is compatible with several mitsubishi and samsung models, so I decided to chance it, and replace just the DMD chip before we trash the tv, it was unthinkable to pay $800 to repair a tv that we could buy now for under $900.
Thanks God the "gamble" paid out and the problem got solve with just $150 DLP chip in about 15 minutes of my time.
If you are not mechanically nor electronically inclined, I recommend you use a technician for the installation, but don't let anyone tell you you need to replace the whole light engine, it is a ripoff.
If your problem is just white or black dots on the screen that do not move.......this will solve your problem!!

P.S. Hope this will help you and for the record..... "I will never buy a mitsubishi product again".

Hi! Your lamp is nearing the end of its life and needs to be replaced. You can do this very easily yourself and your manual explains how to do it. It's two screws. Order it directly from Mitsubishi. The OEM lamp costs $249. Do not buy an aftermarket lamp from an online retailer. They are of inferior quality, normally do not come with the cartridge can damage your set and they usually cost as much after you add the cartridge.
Here's the link for Mitsubishi.
