My drain tube is freezing

Hi,

When the drain tube is freezing up ,the problem is probably the drain in the evaporator drain pan has ice built-up or frozen. To properly repair the refrigerator the drain pan will need to be defrosted. If you would like to defrost the drain pan yourself follow the instructions below. The instructions might not fit your refrigerator but they will work for most top mount freezers.

If you are just accumulating water underneath the crispers it might be from high humidity. In humid weather when the refrigerator door is opened the warm humid air will cause the walls of the refrigerator to sweat and run down to the bottom. If you are getting water dripping from the top of the refrigerator liner the drain might be stopped up in the freezer and the water is overflowing and running through the insulation to the refrigerator liner. If this is the case and you would like to repair it yourself follow these instructions.

Disconnect the power from the refrigerator and remove the food from the freezer. Remove the sliding freezer bottom. If you have an icemaker, remove it. There are 2 screws above the ice mold of the icemaker, remove them. Pull the icemaker away from the side wall of the freezer and disconnect the wires. Remove the icemaker. Remove the screws that hold the rear panel in the freezer and remove the panel. You now have access to the evaporator coil and the drain pan underneath it.

Defrost the ice from the evaporator drain pan with a hair dryer. Don't use a sharp object to remove any frost or ice from the evaporator coil. The evaporator coil is made of aluminum and is easily punctured. When the drain pan is defrosted and water runs through it pour 1/2 cup very hot water through the drain to clean it.

Your heating element (black bar) is working or you wouldn't be getting the water. If you could get a piece of copper wire(solid) about the dia. of a pencil lead and wrap it around the heater 3 or 4 times and let it hang in the defrost water hole , it may keep it from freezing .

Please accept the solution if it's helpful. Do get back to us for any further query.

How to make ice faster

Good day,
When an ice maker harvests a batch, the next batch will be determined by a thermostat embedded in the ice maker body.
When it resets the next harvest will occur, thus determining the frequency of harvest cycles. Thus production.
The first thing to determine is the size of the cubes. If they have become slowly undersized, it could be the water valve's diaphragm starting to swell. If that is the case, then replacing the valve is the only solution. It cannot be serviced.

The second thing is the water feed from the house. The line, and even more so the fittings can start to corrode, slowing the water flow down, producing the same effect described above.

If it has a water filter, that as well can cause this same issue.
Lastly, the temperature of the freezer has a major effect on production. You should check the freezer temperature with an accurate thermometer. It should be at, or very close to zero.
Any temperature above that will slow production.

Although rare, the thermostat in the ice maker can go out of calibration causing slow cycles. Impossible to test, it is one of your last options.

I am assuming the water pressure in the house is normal. Houses with low water pressure can have severe low ice production.

Ice is forming in the refrigerator section, why

Hello,

You have a defrost problem and will have to remove the back cover to access the condensor to fix it. You should see a condenser blocked with ice and also blocking heat transfer to freezer. Thaw out with hair dryer then you will need to cut wires to defrost thermostat (round thingy wired before defrost heater) Bypass the thermostat and manually set defrost timer into defrost mode by turning clockwise with screwdriver until you hear a loud click.. if the heater comes on then you have a bad defrost thermostat. If the heater does not come on then you need to check the heater with a ohm meter for continuity.

Take care........

Are you sure that it is water warping and not the heat from the compressor under the unit? Some wood flooring, such as laminate flooring is made up of pressed wood that is glued together and the heat may be warping the glue.

Service ice and vacumcondenser not too cold

If the freezer is not making Ice than we need to suspect the compressor system. You will need help to find if the gas pressure is good enough and the compressor pumping is also normal. If at all these are not looking good you will have to service the compressor and refill the gas . Make sure that after a sut down the freezer is still not cooling as this can mean that the compressor itself is the culprit. Get and estimate and compare with our findings to see if the serive is worth. ask for waranty on work if the compressor needs servicing. hope you try this out. Good day

I think that too much ice formed and the defrost cycle can't get rid of all of it. Try to manually defrost for 24 hours with food in another backup refrigerator. The fan blades may be hitting the ice behind the panels.
